Ummm..you sure about that... :?

Er.. they had rear drums. At Bathurst, unlike the Chargers', they did still work when hot.

Slightly off topic, here is a couple of questions....
What was the last car with 4 wheel drums to race at Bathurst? (I have no idea!)
Did a car with 4 drums ever win Bathurst? (I don't think so!)
Did a car with 4 drums ever get a class win?

Wasn't Bathurst won in 1976 by a trimatic Holden Belmont?

I'm with the Doc, the cooper discs wern't that bad with a booster. The braking was more than adequate. It was the quick onset of fade that was the issue.

I guess when discs were readily available from cooper wrecks, it was a poor choice to grab sevens when there were seven and a halves around.

Vizard did rant on about them a lot, maybe he's the source of all the bad vibe....
Saying that though, given the choice today, and the fact that discs are easier to get brand new than they ever have been, it's a pretty good idea to grab a set. At least you'll never have to adjust twin leading drums again.

Please PM me with all unwanted 7'inch disk sets......

with modern brake fluid and pad materials they would be a damn sight better than most drum combos.....

haha no i'm not sure

I do remember seeing it in a bathurst documentary though...it was definately one of the bigger cars that had drums all round while racing, so it was the chargers kev?

I think the Studebaker Larks had drums all round, they used to run away and hide until their brakes got hot!
Early Valiants and Dodge Phoenix had 4 wheel drums too.
Chargers had front disc / rear drum.

Mick, early Coronas always got class B, they ran drums all round.

Haha Lark!

I was probably just concentrating on the mini's ...it just said something about the bigger cars taking off for the first few laps, then loosing their braking efficiency and the mini's catching up or something like that..

Very 1st Pacer 160 (VF?) might have had drums all round, but after that they all had front discs.
I am a closet Mopar man... I had a VK 265 Regal and a CL 265..

That Lark was a handsome looking vehicle.....

I posted somewhere before that Minis weren't too good at keeping their brakes at Bathurst either...some used the bumpers of the bigger cars to slow down... .
