So you have a sports 850 badge that will be appearing on ebay soon.

It's most likely the real deal. The badge gives it away... apparently that is the real badge. Red M with black/ dark blue(?) wings. There was that one on ebay a while back that was an aftermarket copy and had a blue or black M with red wings :?

That car belongs indoors!

"Wow not bad! It's either the real deal or a damn good fake! " why do you say that, because it has three sports 850 badges on it?
I know how to tell a real one and I won't be divulging that!!
From what little we can see in the photos tells me it's sus. The circle badge on the grill didn't come with the Sports 850 it came in a wooden box with the twin carbs etc etc for the home tuner. This badge would have been put on normally badged 850s.
So there you have it. Maybe buying those two Sports 850 bagdes on ebay has paid off for someones 850.

I gotta replacement hubcap for my mini cooper too, but that don't make it a fake.

You have to expect that after 40 years you might start to accumulate a few odds and ends that were added to the car, and a very rare and quite nice grill does not make him a fraud.
And what would be this guy's intentions if he were to fake a sports 850? Financial gain? Street cred down at the 7/11?

Give him a break, it's a nice car after all.

I used to tune one back then...
Got to agree with Rupert, that metal badge on the grill is not kosher for a Sports 850.

It's a bloody nice mini and I actually like the colour , it's obviously very well looked after and another mini that's not rusting away somewhere, isn't that all that really matters?

I've seen them in grey and blue, and I thought the blue ones had a stripe down the centre. They were only australian, built by Peter Manton before the cooper came to australia

there's an article about them in the Mini Exp. mag that arrived today - haven't read it yet
