Well, all I can say is if ya got a screw with about two inches room and yer about to tear the entire car apart coz ya cant get the bastard, that driver and screw tip will make ya the happiest guy on earth, short of getting yer end away.

 I had a minor head on in my current 'non-mini' car (a Mitsu Lancer). The beaters had to cut off the front rad support panel, and when they did there was a 1 1/4 inch socket IN THE CHASSIS RAIL!!!!!

They showed it to me and said someone in the past must have been doing the same repair, rested the socket in the opening of the chassis rail, forgot about it, and welded the new rad support panel onto the chassis rail and trapped it in there.

The worst part was he kept it!!!! ...ning nong!!

makka you pretty much said everything and exactly the same stuff as I was gonna say about the twin Su manifold and ratchet spanners.

I had to undo the carbys and the manifold nuts so many times now that its all pretty easy (dont even have to work from below) but once being frustrated I came up with a whole series of cables hanging from the 1/2'' spanner so that I could do up the nuts in that inaccesible spot under the manifold and reposition the spanner back - like controling one of those marionette dolls realy.

The only problem with the ratchet spanners I reckon is that they are so few of them on offer and the ones available are always so fat that you cant fit them in the tricky spots anyways.

I saw some neat ones at Toolworks (Blacktown) the other day, they had an up/down swivel next to the ratchet to get it into confined spaces. I agree many of them are bulky but these were neat. Not cheap.. Can't remember what brand though.

We have some at work that are my favourites, I'll have to get the brand though. THey dont have a switch action for the balls to drop out, and they have a VERY slim profile and a FINE ratchet action. All you do to change direction is turn the spanner over.

One problem is that they are a combo type spaner, so there is only ONE size per spanner unlike most others with a different size on each end.
