Dont forget, when they went down the production, if say a car was yellow before, it may have a tinge of yellow for the first few cars.... Remember it was the 60s

Why?

Im repainting the whole car so my search for the correct BRG wasn’t so it would match existing painted panels. I simply wanted the final color to be as close to the original as possible.

I have a fair bit of the original color in good condition on the floors and the rear parcel shelf so I was using that as a guide. As I’ll be using modern two-pack it will never look exactly the same but at least I wanted to be sure of getting it as close as possible to how it looked in 1970 when I previously owned it.

The car concerned is the Long lost 1964 Cooper in this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=99949

I don’t have any original Nurburg White left on the roof so I’ll make a sample board based on the original codes & hopefully be able to compare it to another car that still has the original Nurburg White on it.

Like the trim, the seats and the carpet, identifying and finding what’s correct for the car is part of the fun - at least for me!

Cheers all, Alby

I have had a look for the BRG codes in the PPG system.

BRG 00036 is available currently in a solid under the paint code AEE7

BRG 00862 is available as a solid under the paint code BEB5 and a COB under paint code KHW1B

Thanks for your action on this. I'll update and re-post the PPG table you compiled for us.

Just came across an internal BMC document dated 3/2/1966 that mentions a change in BRG and Cedar Green. Thought it might be of interest.

It is Paraglaze DGS BEJ6 for solid colour, currently COB isn't listed.

Any of the colours that are listed for Paraglaze DGS (Solid colour) are able to be formulated to Paraglaze BCS (Clear over base), your paintshop can put request in to PPG to have it added to the database.

Wow Womble99, great work. I might get a little made up just to see how it compares. You don’t have an up to date code for 1964 Nurburg White do you?

They can spectro Red mica metallics and get them spot on as long as you use the correct base colour that they supply which is a low build primer .Spoke to my mate tonite and we are not convinced that they can do this with solid especially dark colours . Would love to be proven wrong or we need old school matchers with the new systems

Sorry I have been away from the shop for awhile but Nurburg White is available in Paraglaze solid code BEB9 and Paraglaze COB code BEB9B

Hope that helps.
