This may sound excessive but my tacho wasnt working so i got it done professionally. Cost me $300!!! But they took it out, got it working, calibrated it with the pulsar dizzy and put her back in...works a treat now and not jumping around like my old mini. i would rather do this then spend the money on a non-original tacho...

Thanks Marvin,
I got a couple of spare globes with housings from a wreck and then saw that their power comes from the plastic sheet that I no longer have... thats ok though I'll just connect power to the globe and it should work. If it doesnt I'll connect an earth to the other side of it ;)

Its possibly interesting to note also that there is another square hole at the bottom of that tacho. those holes fit the globes that just press/clip in... I might try and put 2 globes in it :)

The globe holders have no way of being hard wired in lieu of the PC. The OC has both power and earth tracks in it so I guess the best way is to find a PC. On the GT the PC is different and has allowance to feed power to the tacho. I am sure the spade terminal is not power at all but an earth from the instrument not the globe. The globe has earth and power through the PC. The spade terminal goes back to small screw behind thw temp/fuel cluster.

The easy way to answer what is the earth and what is the power is to take the back of the tacho and see what goes to where   That's how I did it with mine and I worked out that the earth connector had been removed which was why I couldn't get it working  the earth I found was detailed in the thread reply I gave Marvin and refered Jill to... "how to wire your tacho?" or something. IMO there has to be an earth for the instrument as it is fed power and there is no where the tacho could earth otherwise cause it is in a plastic case.

as far as wiring up the globesin the tacho I think at least one is to backlight your tacho when your headlights are on. I had no PCB for the three pod dash as I was adding the tacho to a two pod dash so I cut some wires to go from a similar globe on the two pod part across to the tacho. I works no problems.

I am very tempted some times to chuck the PCB and rewire it myself most of the problems I have had with my clubby have been with that bloody PCB  problem is it might get difficult and I am not much good at soldering

I am 100% postitive the spade bit is power because the tacho in the pic below got it's power from the screw behind the temp/fuel gauge and it was earthed straight to the dash rail

I have done that. It comes off one side of a wound coild. If it is power it is the dodgiest power lead out on any car this side of a Renault. If I could put it in a car to test I could positivly tell. Putting an earth in a circuit completes it in DC so it is hard to tell without power.

Nice dash Marvin ;)

Would you know what/where those indicator green lenses came from? I need to put something in my indicator holes to glow...

Jill. I did something similar to Marvin's dash but in aluminium I had the same problem with the indicator lenses bits. What I did was find a stained glass place and got them to cut some little bits of green glass for me out of thier off cuts. They couldn't be bothered charging me cause they were only a couple of bits 1cm square. I glued them to the back of my dash with quick grip and they look good. :D It might not work so well with a timber dash though
Just a though
