Hey fellas I thought Id give an update on this as i spent hours and hours trying to do this and there was no way it was going to work. My brother had a pair which he bought some time back which were original spec. I got the two off my brother and put them on and boom straight into position. I ended up measuring the difference and they are about 4mm thicker than the genuine made ones. Just a heads up never buy cheap Chinese garbage. Couldn't believe how easily the other ones just slotted. I suppose how they are supposed to.

That is good news.
What is the thickness of the correct ones for reference?

Two engine mounts were specified for the Mini - AYA2067 (UK part number 21A1902) initially and the most common, and AYG2097 on late round-nose and then Clubman.

AYA2067 has S shaped metal backing plates - thickness from outer edge to outer edge of each backing plate is 1.03" (26.2 mm) according to the drawing.

AYG2097 has flat metal backing plates - thickness from outer edge to outer edge of each backing plate is 1.09" (27.7 mm) according to the drawing.

I remember the flat plate mount was used under the flywheel housing on Morris 1100. I don't recall them on Minis here but I've only had them on and off since 1964...
