Yes. 1098 Clubbies up to 1973 used a 4 synchro remote box (same as Mini K).

Won't change the performance really- gear ratios are the same.
Diff ratio may be shorter (3.647) instead of the usual rod change 3.44. If so it'll go up hills even better!

Bolts straight on. No problem.
You will need to bolt the bracket into the tunnel for the engine mount on the rear of the shift housing though.
Then, you can throw away the useless top steady near the radiator- no longer needed.

Yeah doc... Why do they sell 150quid "Ultimate Engine Steadies" in the UK for if this top engine steady isn't needed?

I read that it helps to eliminate torsional engine movement on a high performance engine? :?

They sell them because since 1973, EVERY Mini has been built with a rod change box. These have the same mounting rigidity as the 850 boxes of old.. ie none!
With remote boxes, I get no movement in mine, or Barney. You have a torque arm out the back of box, nearly a metre long, with a mount on it.
All the rad side top steady will do is transmit more vibration.

Hey if it was needed, the Cooper S would have had it. 8)

Doc,,,the "S" allways needed it,,,

it also helps that rear gear shift housing mount stop breaking :-)

leave it there & love it being there

The Rovers have some gearbox-to-subframe stabilisers ASWELL... these things are really short and seem to have NO mechanical advantage compared to the radiator stabiliser braket.

Back mount won't break, if it is in compression- you need to put a flat washer or 2 in there if needed, so there's absolutely NO gap at all.
I've broken 1 rear mount in my lifetime- it died from old age...
