hey all,
as im moving soon and will have to park my mini on the street instead of in a locked garage behind a security fence (yay for warehouse conversion aparments) ive had a bees knees alram/imobiliser installed but with it came some central locking units, I had a look in my doors and for the life of me i cant figure out where to put the little motor things, where they wont foul the window when its woud down or where they dont stick out into the door card. Who here has central locking fitted and where are your motors located AND if its not too much trouble could i have a pic of how youve rigged it up!!

If you have a clubby there isn't much problem compared to a morris.
The motors can either go in the bottom of the door bin with some trim to hide it,
or fir them under the quarter vent window, and use rods and levers to run back
to the lock.

No, but it's one of the first things I will get after paying off my engine rebuild debts.

trent, why dont you also get a kill switch - maximum secutiry! u can get them fitted in at an auto elertrician.. costs under $60 - $90, depending on how much they wanna rip you off.. and theres no way anybody could start your mini machine.. unless they hire a tow truck...

I bought an alarm and 3point immobiliser system.. it's also got the central locking.. I havn't actually got round to getting any of it in the car yet.. the wiring in the car is already a mess, and I think this will just add to the confusion. I'd love to pull the whole wiring harness out and start it all over again. But don't have the time. Let us know how the central locking goes, i wasn't going to even bother with it.. I'm just lazy

Maybe its better to arm the system but leave the doors unlocked - they'll do less damage to your locks that way

I've decided that a GPS tracker will be going into my mini when I get one... My first car was stolen from outside uni and never seen again (It had a kill switch). For all I know it's very close by but without a tracker there's no way to find out. For years I kept looking out for it... to this day when I see a charcoal VK Commodore I get my hopes up that it's my car (even though now I realise Commodores are crap, it was MY car and some arsehole took it!). I'm never going through that again... especially since we're talking about a mini and not just a Commodore this time.

Get a tracker and an alarm.

l had central locking in my last clubman which was fairly easy to fit.
l have now had central locking in my round nose for about 12mths.t.See attached photo.

Chasg, was it hard to get that into the drivers side?

well i got one side in last night and it works a treat!!! I mounted the motor directly under the inside door handle (on a clubbie) and used the rods that came with the locking kit and joined it onto the actual rod from the handle to the lock, Easy as, ill get some pics up soon to show you all, the best bit, if you ever wanna get rid of it, smply undo the connector from the motor rod that joins the lock rod, undo 2 screws and its back to a normal door!!

Fit a passenger door lock in drivers side door, like the photo above. Mount the solenoids in the door bin at the bottom. Make up a cover for the rods and solenoid.

I've been playing with this on a spare pair of doors....
