I took last week off work and 6 or 7 litres of paint stripper later my second mini looks like this...

Ran out of time to totally finish removing, but hopefully I've saved myself some money.
It looked like this when I got it...

This morning it got towed off to get the engine out and then off to the paint shop.

If you could find a mini without ANY rust, you might be able to clear coat it and make it look like a delorean. Not sure how the doors would work though :).

Marc don't waste time/money on that shell stripping it back. I know that car don't as it won't save you $$$.
I stripped back the race car that you saw when you were over here but only because it had about 13 different colours on it. Maybe some hidden defects but yours is a very good round nose shell.

(edit) and only use quality primers and paints. I recommend Dulon. Use Etch Primer on bare metal, then primer, then your colour. NEVER use Supacrap paint. I made a huge mistake using this shite paint for the roof (white) and it is phucked!

I haven't done any primer or anything, it's gone straight to the painter. He recommended he do the sanding, so any primer would just be sanded off anyways. If you sand it back yourself, then put at least some kind of protectant on it.

Mainly factory paint actually, except in the bits which had been repaired, and even then it was a decent job because there was only one extra layer.

really? i thought going to back to bare metal was always better
i want this one to be pretty mint
i have done what i can with the floor and put some rustbuster stuff on it the front pans will get replaced with new ones and maybe the sills if they need it i dont think they do
so what would you suggest i have stripped it all windscreens roof lining all other bits
not much rust few little dints here and there i will not paint myself as i want a decent job done
