Ok well while this isnt really a mini topic, it does mean that i wont be able to drive my mini tho

i was driving home the other night from work (bout 11:00 on a sunday night) and i get pulled over by these two fat cops who were clearly just bored and looking for something to do. I was driving my mums car (mini was in bits) and they start giving me the whole "who's car is this? it looks stolen" (yeah RIGHT! ) everything is in order until they notice that my rear P plate had fallen down "we're gonna have to book you for that son" (WTF?!?! it's CLEARLY just fallen off, i've driven about 200m, i'll put it back up! it was sitting there on the parcel shelf!)

anyway i dont whinge too much about it, just pay the fine and get over it...

so im sitting at home studying thisarvo and i get a suspicious looking letter from Transport SA.....guess what, nearly 2 months after paying the fine i get a "NOTICE OF DISQUALIFICATION" GET REAL!!!!! i've never had a speeding fine/red light fine.....NOTHING and now cos i drove 200m without realising my P plate's fallen down i'm disqualified from having a drivers liscense of any kind for 6 months

to make me even more angry i asked the cops at the time if it would affect my liscence and they said "no, there's no demerit points for not having your P's up"
"thats ok then i spose" i think....and then this!! what a crock of steaming hot dog poo!

the road rules and policies regarding road safety in this country are so far up the creek that it's little wonder the death toll isnt coming down. All these stupid politicians do is wank on about how "speed kills" and then do nothing to address the REAL problems......driver fatigue, unroadworthy cars, DRINK DRIVING!!!! what a waste of taxpayers money all this is! those two fat cops should have been out catching some REAL criminals not hassling me cos i'm an 18 year old on my P plates and an 'easy' target. Please excuse my ranting and raving but i'm absolutely fuming!

I know i can appeal and i most certainly will be....the chances are my appeal will be upheld too.....but wait for it, there's more!!! even if my appeal is upheld i still have to have my P's for another 6 months and if i do anything wrong in that time i lose my liscense altogether for upto 2 and a half years!!! also, no matter the outcome of my appeal i still have to attend a Driver Intervention Program (DIP) lecture...........at my own cost!! i'm a full time student!!!! where the hell am i going to get the money to pay for that?! guess what if i dont go i lose my liscense and here's the sealer....i face jail time!!!

look out............i'm going to cut loose and murder with my rampant P plate!!!!! :?

now if i'd been doing something dangerous then i'd cop it sweet and say nothing....but this really is a joke....as far as im concerned im a pretty sensible member of the community...i've never caused any harm to anyone else and this is what i get for my efforts........thanks a lot!! currently the system is stuffed!

my 2c
-Jimmy

ps. someone tell me how i can change the system!? i'm being dead serious!! is there a group that can make my voice heard?! and i dont mean someone like the RAA/NRMA wahtever, cos we all know that they're hopeless at what they do....they can organise caravan holiday routes, but thats about all they;re good for.............anyone?

ermm if i remember correctly, on 60minutes, they once (last yr) interviewed a guy who got so angry for recievin a ticket that he decided to start a website and expressed his views on the local traffic polices and he went on n on n.....

they often have like meetings n petition n rallys or sumthing...its like a little community where people who felt they were wrongly fined for "hang out"!

couldnt remember the url....try to do a search on yahoo or sumthin

How much is the driving course going to cost? I'll chuck some funds your way to help. Open up a bank a/c temporarily and anyone that wants to help can transfer funds into it

Do we really need to see the swearing?

I'm sure that there are kids who frequent this forum so if we could just leave that out please?

thommo go to your local member of parliment and take your parents along than if he wont do any thing contact aca or any other tv show who may give a damn also contact the local opposing member he will go on a rant cos he will want to make himself look community minded you know stuck up for the local kid who was unfairly treated by the police and yada yada yada
if that dont work speak to a bloody good barrister and see if you can get this quashed

yeah sorry rupert...i was seeing red....all fixed up now

and makka, i will definately be writing some letters because this comepletely lacks any comon sense and yeah my mum's friends with the local member so hopefully she'll actually listen

we'll see what happens, but what really annoys me is that even if/when my appeal is upheld i still automatically have to be on my P's for at least another 6 months and i still have to attend the DIP course at my own cost.....its a joke really

Thats bad luck
One of my friends who was not displaying his P plates, when he got pulled up (he was speeding for a fully licensed driver ) got a $50 dollar fine for having none of his plates up
So that is all rubbish.

I didnt think ya had to pay court costs unless ya lost yer appeal.

I was granted my licence back after losing my points(4) for speeding. Since I was working all the time in a mobile van, I was able to claim that my livelihood depended on me having a licence. won my appeal, and never paid a cent. Got all my points back too
