Had a very bad day today..... :x :(

Today was the last day of my week long holiday. My objective for this week was to finish JAM. I came sooooo close, then today happened!

Firstly.....I filled the rad and it leaked like it had been hit by a shotgun shell...... :( Then kev came over to help me fire it up. It cranks very well.....but didn't fire....because the damn fuel pump is stuffed! :x

Image

To top is all off.....I snapped an exhaust manifold stud taking it and the carbs off :x :x

Sooooooo......1 step forward, 2 steps back.

I am back at work tomorrow.....so JAM's debut is delayed AGAIN!

PS: What's an electric fuel pump worth (karcraft say $100) and how do you wire them up?

Sorry to hear of your woes, but it happens to all of us at some stage.
I bought my facet style fuel pump (the same Kev has) at Robbos spares in Blacktown (near Harvey Norman). Cost about $85-90. Piss easy to wire up, a 12V positive to the pump (i put a fuseable link in as well and ran it from the fuse box along the tray that covers the fuel line) and an earth at the pump itself. I also took the added step of insulating the power wire by feeding it into some fish tank pump clear tubing as an added safety feature against vibration.

Mounted it on the rear subframe on some rubber exhaust type mountings.

Yea well spotted Chong!! Lance also spotted a leak in the clutch hose this morning......

I will have to buy some vice grips to get the stud out. There is about 3/8" hanging out to grab on to. I loaned my vice grips to someone ages ago....I hope they are doing well these days.... :(

wassup willy? Having zorst troubles? I have a standard pea shooter I can sell you  It's in good nick! probably last you a lifetime!

I don't know what mini fuel pumps are worth, but I was looking at fuel pumps some time ago for about $70 in autobarn. It would have to be attached to the subframe.

As for not being finished, don't worry about it.
The "can't wait" factor must be worth something.
:D

thanx KB.

Can you buy blanking plates for the mechanical fuel pump, or do I have to make one?

Bugger, i guess it is a good learning experience. I have a stud puller here that could help get that stud out. welcome to borrow if you would like.

Cheers

Aaron

You can buy them or a certain someone can make them for you if you ask nicely. I'd put in a new gasket too...
