Kuranda would be one of Australia's best locations, with or without a mini. I was trying to think of Port Douglas, but I had a mental blank. We nearly bought a Servo at Cardwell in the early 80's, it was unreal then but I don't know now after Keith Williams got hold of it.

You are right, and the road between Cairns and Port Douglas is like the Great Ocean Road with palm trees and sandy beaches.

Sadly the Cairns/Port Douglas road is quite a dangerous road these days, the volume of traffic and the number of accidents, many involving o/seas tourists who are used to driving on the other side of the road. It is still good, just can't drive it like the old days.

Man its a long time ago....could have been a Golden Fleece....I think I turned straight into the town off the hwy and the Garage was on the left and there was some sort of river/creek/water maybe on the right....maybe a caravan park further down on the left....palms???

Some awesome looking roads there Josh. That one winding up into the Alps is making me drool.

Seconding the roads to Wisemans Ferry, Wollombi and Putty. It is a real pity that the older roads do not get the attention they deserve though. The road to Wisemans is falling apart. Its not a very comfortable ride in Brads rover. The BINI just soaks up the bodgy surface but I spend my life at the tyre shop getting the wheels aligned :(
