Always nice to see the government totally way off on things yet again... My brothers girlfriend can STILL get her Hyundai 1.6L Getz up to 120km/h on the freeway and thats more than plenty to kill someone.

Oh and take it easy on the "fully sick wogs" ... i seem to remember that the last few d1ckheads that wrapped them and half a dozen other people around a tree werent wogs, but more anglo saxony peoples...

Diesels being exempt highlights the fundamental problem with this law - you can't legislate common sense. I've driven both of VW's new diesels, the older 1.9 and the newer 2.0 diesel. They both have enough grunt (torque) to feel like a big aussie six, and rev just as well  .

The 2.0 diesel goes hard enough (around 8.4 secs for 0-100) for a young 'un to do some serious damage - I had a big smile after the short drive.

It dosnt matter what car you put a young driver in, ive almost flipped my clubby over a medium strip... Landed on two wheels facing to the right direction on the oposite side of the road in the far left lane
A P plater will only buy a crap house car to get them by for the P plater period then onto the turbos!! Mean while the crap house substitute is not dangerous on the road than the turbo cars...

Woo Hoo my VR4 made the list too, but my V8 powered Toyota Dyna truck did'nt

Im interested to know if a P plater can drive a turbo charged truck????

Doogie

It is a blanket ban on forced induction on PETROL motors unless you can prove need for work purposes. At the top of the list it is made very clear that it will be modified as needed, so as soon as someone gets to clever they will list that vehicle. It also has a ban on driving modified vehicles whatever that means, though I can't see anything regarding that. I would not like to be involved in the aftermarket industry as the RTA have just taken away 3 years of potential customers as far as engine mods go. The rest can be modded. I reckon any of the high performance Hondas are going to be worth big money. BTW this list has been out for at least a month. So my big question is, can my son drive a 1430 mini van?

I just found this page and it gives more info on the extent of the bans.

they did this years ago with motorcycles for learners and provisional licence holders - claims it would kill off certain parts of the industry. crap. it just opens other markets.

think about the name of the licence - PROVISIONAL - that means that if you hold one of these its not a real licence anyway, just one that they let you have to see if you can behave.

just get on with your lives people it is not that much of a hassle really.

So what did the motor cycle industry do??? They made the 250cc bike one of the quickest bikes you could get...

I think they should make people while on their L's do the advanced courses and things like that to improve driver skills.. BUT also they should wear some of the cost involving this.. Seriously its getting to a point where its not even worth getting a licence any more, just to get to your BLACK licence these days your looking at around $600 bucks just in the tests and licences fees ITS A GOD DAMN JOKE!!!
