Most of us are in the NSW miniclub (And love it dearly) and use this chat forum as well as MCC committee. I just thought it was poor of our committee we are both members to have a go at John Smidt because he was good enough to offer opening on his only day off and have a BBQ through his interest in Ausmini its got nothing to do with mini club.

Was an invitation extended to him to go to the MCC swap meet seeing as though he has an entire warhouse full of new old stock seperate to Mini Spares Centre Group, NO they didn't.

Silly but I think some people are anti ausmini and do this stuff behind closed doors so it needs to be said.

Bob was great to offer possibilities of non mini club of NSW people a chance to display their minis on the MCC NSW stand at motorex but then you get this silly stuff in the next breath. Bob I enjoyed the swap meet well done and thanks keep working at bridging the gap from within.

People on Ausmini approached John and he said fine MCC could have, as MCC members participate on Ausmini they are all welcome.

Does anybody know if Mini Car Club NSW expressed the same level of diappointment to Graeme Russell. He is also going to come and speak at one of our meetings - stay tuned for dates/details.

How obsurd seems committee or some of it are threatened by a chat group which is heavily used by their membership. Soooooo Strange.........................silly misguided people.

Steve, I haven't quite figured out why you always need to use a public forum to vent your obvious dislike of the club and the committee. As usual, you need to get your facts straight before mouthing off.

No dissapointment was expressed from what I can gather. Actually, quite the opposite. Rae (our long standing president for those that don't know her) actually said that John Smidt taking over was probably the best thing that could have happened, and that the club would probably support the business a lot more now as he is such a nice guy.

Rae contacted the business not to try and hijack the event that was already organised, but to try and see if it could possibly be repeated at a later date for the Mini Club and it's members, as this one unfortunately clashes with one of our previously organised events. As far as I know, this is still a possibility. We had no intention at all of trying to postpone or change the day that is already organised - we're not that arrogant!! It just sounded like a great day, and we hope it can be repeated later on down the track.

From what I can gather, John was not there when Rae rang, and the person who answered the phone (Sorry I don't know who) didn't even know about the Ausmini Bbq, let alone about organising another one!! I can't obviously tell you what has happened from there, but as far as the club being threatened bu Ausmini, GET REAL. Ausmini is great, and as you yourself said, a lot of Mini Club members are on here including committee members. Why the hell would we be threatened by a forum dedicated to all things mini??

On the Graeme Russell Workshop day, I did express some disappointment - but only that I couldn't make it as I was away. As he is also such a nice bloke, he has said he will hold another day later in the year, on a date which Both Mini Club members and Ausmini people can make it to.

I hate to say this, because I pride myself on being a tolerant person, and I would also like to see as many members in our club as possible, but I'm sick of hearing you attack people who work and give up their time to organise club activities and events for all to enjoy. Steve, you had your turn on committee and did nothing but make waves, then not run because you couldn't handle it anymore. If the Mini Club isn't up to your standards, and you couldn't better it when you had the chance, stop whingeing about it and piss off back to the Austin Club.

[/end rant]

PS. Sorry to everyone else for you having to read this, but as Steve felt it necessary to attack us in public, I felt it only fair that we can defend ourselves in the same manner.

Now back to our regular programming......... 8)

Bob

John Smidt was given that impression and upset by the approach, it shouldn't have happened and he shouldn't feel that way. You didn't make the call I'm sure you approach would have been better.

Feel free to have a go Bob I have a different opinion from you and wouldn't tell anyone where to go for sharing an opinion. When on committee I offered many suggestions which were taken up by the commitee and many changes in the way things are done have occured. If that made waves well good but things were changed not that I need to justify myself to you.

I have close friendships with many of your fellow committee members. I always have and always will encourage people to be members of the mini club as it has wonderous benifits for its members but as a member I have a right to my opinion. Wasn't the MCC chat forum you became moderator of get shut down through nasty personally attacks and inapproriate comments?

Bob you seem to think I'm anti club nothing could be further from the truth I love it which is why I'm a member and you aren't going to intimidate me into leaving it.

I am President of the Austin Motor Vehicle Club of NSW nominated by the outgoing President and seconded by the president before him and elected unoposed. The average age of its members is 52 yet they have a 34 year old gay man as a President. I thank them for their ability to accept all people and respect peoples right to have an opinion that may differ from their own.

Bob I have my facts straight, I have already been told I'll be harrased untill I leave the MCC from a former President who wanted to call the police every time Ausmini went on a run telling them the route and distancing itself, now you are being just as ridiculous and intimidatory.

Thanks for your comments I agree back to regular programing.

Well nearly every time you go off on a rant you contradict yourself, but not always in the same sentence!

Here are some of the facts which Steve claims to have straight:

Steve is referring to me. I did not ever say I wanted to call the police every time Ausmini go on a run, though did I Steve. I did however publicly state that the run to Bondi Beach was a bad idea, and that the only way that run should take place is if the police are first notified. I did say that the Club should distance itself from a run to Bondi that was beginning from a Club event (the drive in) because Bondi is such a famous trouble spot.

I also went on record saying that if the run was planned over Kurrajong, or to Harry's Cafe De Wheels etc it would be great, just not to Bondi. So lets not go over old ground. It's all on the record. My comments were misunderstood by some people and weren't terribly popular in some circles, but I think most people were alert enough to realise it was this event i had a problem with, not every Ausmini run.

But then Steve goes to the Mini Club chat group and called me a biggot. Because of that personal attack, I took it upon myself to lay the slipper into you.

More for the record. Steve went to a meeting of the MCC with the intent of getting the committee to agree to support Ausmini and to allow him to share the benefits among MCC members who were not able to log on. Because Ausmini was new(ish) and not well understoood by Rae, her first reaction was to be wary of Ausmini. Do you recall though Steve, who was your most vocal supporter in successfully convincing Rae and various other committee members that Ausmini was not a threat to the club - that it is in fact a great forum for mini lovers to chat about minis, and that we should promote ausmini to our members? That's right. Me.

But now, you're trying to make me seem like some old stale MCC ex-president who is anti ausmini and trying to negate anything that happens here. Not straight facts, those Steve.

Steve, the thing that confuses me is how you always claim to love the club so much, yet do so much to publicly undermine our credibility. Do you publicly denegrate everything you love like that? If you ask me Steve I'd say the only thing you love about the club is the $60 rego.

You don't deal in fact's in my experience Steve. You deal in opinion in the most emotive way possible. You can never be part of healthy debate, because when someone says something that you disagree with, you judge them for it, and pigeon hole them. Judge behaviour, not people Steve.

Matt.

Dear Ausmini people,

I have been following this forum for a long time. I have also been a member of the Mini Car Club of NSW for a long time.

I have never felt the need to log onto this internet chat site, as I felt there were plenty of people to help out. However when someone dishes out the club such as this I find it very sad. People are scared to join the club because of b!tchy, sad spiteful people like you "steve". You say you love the club, but as pointed out by "Mr Bob", you have come onto a public forum to try to discredit the club and i guess try to impress Ausmini people with you contacts at Mini Clinic. Were you expecting a pat on the back by trying to make the club look spitefull and sad? In turn "steve" i think you have made people look at you as a trouble maker.

Rae Witcombe (the president) is a LOVELY lady who lives and breaths for the club. People devote a hell of a lot of time to make the club what it is, and "steve" you have done NOTHING but give the club a bad name continually. What are you trying to acheive? John Scmidt is a lovely bloke and I wish him ALL the best in his new venture. The only way he would get this ill feeling toward the club is through the verbal trash that comes out of your mouth. I HIGHLY DOUBT THE CLUB WOULD DO WHAT YOU SAY STEVE> THEY DO NOT HAVE THE IMMATURE MENTALITY THAT YOU CONTINUALLY DISPLAY IN WHAT YOU DO AND SAY.

I understand that this little argument has done nothing for the club. All i can say is go try it for yourself. I am 63. i would love to see young guys in there, with modified minis. and thats what the club is about. MINIS. what has gone on here is an isolated case. there is no sort of dramas like this. just a fun place to be and chat about cars. have fun at motorkhanas etc. Please make your own mind up. Do not listen to "steve".

I'm not judging people I questioned an action.

Club committees represent their membership and are accountable to their members.

John smidt was put out, he was upset he told me about the call. The phone call was inapropriate or he wouldn't have been upset by it.

If you don't like it tough, call me all the names under the sun its a reflection of who you are.

The people who know me, know better and they count.

I hope to see those that aren't at the Kanacross training day down at Padstow on Sunday or I will see those at the training day if I finish in time to get there.

Safe driving everyone

Steve

I'd like to add to this, that in my short 3-4 years of mini ownership I have witnessed quite a few cases of this kind go one between various parties. I thought it was beginning to change for the good, and WAS considering membership this year. I have plenty of friends in the club, Steve and Mikey, Chris, Marcello, Myles etc.. are all great people in my books..

I really don't care who is wrong here, the club, it's commitee members or Steve. Fact is, nothing has changed, some people will forever have issues...

JESUS... I am surprised no one has locked this forum up yet...

You know its one thing I never understand about people. Why would you stick around to experience something that you don?t enjoy..?? Its like TV... if I don?t like the ads, or don?t like the show, I turn it off or switch channels. If I don?t like Ausmini, I don?t log on. If I didn't like the MCC then I wouldnt pay my membership, wouldnt go to meetings and wouldnt read their magazine... I dont need the membership to maintain the relationships with the people that I know from there and in keeping friends with people that are in the MCC then I can get them to get me things that they may be getting cheap..!! ROFL

Still... I guess if you ask me, if you dont like something, life is too short to waste time jumping up and down trying to make waves and change it... you should just sit back, enjoy it for what it is, and if you dont enjoy it then be adult about it to walk away from it and leave those people that do enjoy it to enjoy it....

*shrugs*

Doesnt matter to me either way. I love Ausmini and enjoy MCC...

And cant wait to get one of these $60 registrations people are talking about
