I have been offered a 75 clubman (sorry no photo) for $1200, reasonable condition with a little rust showing through fairly sad paint, but runs pretty good with the 1000cc engine.
This would be my first mini and I don't know much about value - any advice anyone?

If it is roadworthy and registered, what do you have to lose?

i paid $2500 for my 76 clubman , it has a little rust and fairly sad paint too but had a lot of mechanical work done to it such as brakes and re-co engine and box

yeh id say the same if it is regested and roadworthy go for it

I suppose it depends on what you mean by 'a little rust' and where it is. I'd recommend checking out the rust situation VERY carefully (EDIT: like J_A_M already said - I just noticed) - especially in areas that are difficult or expensive to fix or it could end up costing a LOT more than buying one that isn't rusty - they do exist...
I threw away $800 on a 65 deluxe that looked like it had a little bit of rust but turned out to be completely stuffed once I stripped it down and got a proper look at it - was cheaper in the long run to trash it and buy one that someone else had already restored.

If it runs great and the gearbox is fine, then thats atleast $1200 there.

Without seeing it, i'd say bargain. 8)

Reckon I might snap it up then. I've got a mate who's a coach builder who can help me with the bodywork, a mate who is a brilliant engine rebuilder and know a guy who is an absolute mini freak, for any parts and advice - besides, I've always wanted a mini!

Thanks everyone!

Just a warning:
Getting a mini will not stop the feeling of wanting one.
Some people just keep buying them. There's no cure I'm aware of. :D

Severe lack of funds should keep the mini's at bay, mind you I do have a decent size workshop...
