There are a few brands of 'swirl remover'

Does it cut the duco to remove swirl, or does it fill the swirl to hide it?

I find that the colour I painted JAM is very susceptible to swirl and light 'touch' marks.

Fills the swirls in.

Any polishing glaze or gloss will do the job. I find the Mothers one works really well for me. Ask Brad what he uses

Actually, since it is a brand new paint job, ask Brad to machine polish it for you. Then after that you can do it by hand easier

No not the same stuff!

Wax and polish is 3 steps for best results:

Cutting wax, to cut the paint back (sort of like sand paper but think of it as 10,000 grade There are more than 1 type of cutting wax, some soft some hard.
Wax gloss or sealer or glaze (known as different things by different brands) this 'seals' the paint surface and hides the swirls as you say. You end up with a glossy smooth surface
Then you wax with carnauba wax.

The most important steps to a good shine is the first 2. Shine it like 2-3 coats of the first 2 (hard cut, softer cut, softest cut) then 2 coats of the glaze/gloss/sealer, then 1 light coat of wax and you'll see the contours of your facial pimples in the paint

if the swirls are deep in red paint then nothing will completely remove it, just hide it. Buff with meguairs medium cut with a soft (black) waffle (humps) pad. That is then followed by a buff with same pad with swirl remover (most brands the same) then a coat of wax by hand.

If it was clear coat you could go abit harsher with the cutting compound, but just on straight colour you have to be very gentle buffing it.

One thing that i wonder is that the instructions tell me to apply in a swirling motion but the onoly thing that worries me is getting swirls. do i buff off in a swirling motion? I use the atuoglym range of polishes.

you will not get proper swirl marks if you dont use a buffer,, doing it by hand will not leave any significant swirl marks if using a nice clean soft cloth, microfibre is the best.....

Swirl marks when buffing are mainly made by dirty buffing pads, or cutting compund to harsh, or egde of pad used instead of center and also paint being to fresh.
