Yeah I know this, just wondered what Brett did different to make it fit, and clamp it down.

I haven't finished with it yet... :)

Pretty much the same as an A series. I managed to get hold of a dead A+ points type dizzy and just swapped the dog off that.

At the moment it has a very crude clamp holding it in place jammed under the oil bypass pipe. I have only run it on the floor, it's not in the car yet.

I reckon I will try drilling/filing a slot for the A+ bolt (minus clamp) to swivel in on a smaller radius than the Nissan clamp. If that does not work, I'll cut the Nissan slot off and try to get an A+ clamp to fit. 8)

Thanks, Brett.
I was going to make the dizzy body mods as per the other 3, then make a 1/2 circle clamp from 5mm plate, still using the A+ bolt..

My main concern was whether the diameter or body length of A+ dizzy is different.

Hell, I'll pull it out for a look...

I'll pinch the drive dog off it to try.

The diameter is the same, body length may be different. I know the shaft length was different, I think it was shorter on the A+?

I must be losing my mind or summat - cannot remember what I did to the dizzy three months ago!

I can check it as the engine is at a mate's place at the moment, not in my shed... :?

No hurry. Motor's not going anywhere, car's still not painted yet...

I'll pull dizzy out next weekend, after I've done the other 3!

OK, couldn't wait, so I pulled the dizzy from the 1275A+ today for a look...
Dizzy body is the same diameter and length as A series, drive dog is different, as is the driveshaft in the block.
Roll pin diameter is much smaller than A series but is in about the same place.
Maybe the Pulsar pin will fit??

[Best way to mount it in an A+ I think is turn the dizzy around a bit, and put the A+ clamp bolt thru the dizzy's slotted flange. Slot will need to be made wider. Probably the driveshaft will need to be turned a bit too to get timing set right]. Good idea (not), see below..
<edit>
OK, I checked out putting the Hitachi dizzy in the A+ block today. The mounting flange is about 180* from where it needs to be, to use the stock clamp bolt. Vac canister hits the starter with present flange position, so that method is no-go unless I slice vac canister off and run without..

Body length and diameter is OK, shaft just needs a few mm ground off the end and an A+ drive dog fitted.

I think if the Pulsar flange were trimmed off the dizzy as per the mod for an A series, a little filing of the ribs on the body will let the stock A+ clamp finger do the job.

I'm not fitting it in until I can get another A+ drive dog. I'll keep the A+ dizzy intact.

OK I've now had the Pulsar dizzy running in Barney's 1293A+ for a few months. No problems.
I had to bush the hole in dizzy shaft (because I'd drilled it out for the old 1098) to fit the smaller A+ pin, and machine 1.0mm off the top of the drive dog so the thrust washer would fit.
Apart from 20 secs of filing, as said in post above, that's it! 8)
