Took two radiators down to the "best radiator guy this side of Brisbane" One was total cactus and he said forget it. ( 16fpi that I was hoping would be better for the rebuild) the other was the original out of the project. It is the original 12 fpi from the 850. When I said I will be running an 1100 with it he said "no way you'll be too hot" 12fpi only good for 850 and 998 if not driven hard otherwise you need 16fpi - not only that he recommended some core product I didn't get the name of which he said was a lot more efficient as cooling. He must have blinded me with science or buried me in BS because I took leave of my senses and heard myself telling him to go ahead with the recore at a price of $270

Been kicking myself ever since - just hope it will be as good as he says.

Thanks for the eBay laugh "3 core radiators are 50% more efficient than 2 core"

Makka I am sure a Formula 1 radiator costs $270,000 but that's not the point....

Anyway you can't complain if a few of the cores are blocked for $30!

Why am I not surprised.. The problem with radiators is most people don't know how to check them.

If you can see any blocked cores it is stuffed.

Well, it mightn't be, IF the rad place takes both the tanks off, acid dips it and rods the cores out properly..
But often on an old rad the core is not worth this trouble due to external damage etc.
