I've used 2 of the Fuel Miser 750 rebuild kits on the carbs.. One of my needles is fine, but the other has scratches where it's been rubbing on the needle seat thing.. So I guess I'll replace them both. Repco have the Fuel Miser 750 needles... are these any good? What can people recommend? And where abouts can I get them from?

My engine:
- Twin HS2s
- 1098cc engine (998 bored out)

everything is pretty standard I think.. head has had a little bit of work done, but nothing major.

not sure where to get them. there is a cool little program free download that will tell you what needles to get. I think its called winsu I will see if i got it somewhere. :wink:

people have assumed you are talking about the main jet needles here but I know better.. 8) :lol:
The float needles in the Fuel Miser kits are good. Better than the brass SU originals. Replace both the needle and the seat in both carbs.

You can buy SU repair kits from Midel, but IMO the Fuel Miser ones work good and are better value.

The Fuel Miser needles have Viton tips. They seal better and don't flood, like old worn SU ones do. Dunno if new SU needles are still the old plain brass, maybe they have woken up at last. :lol:

SU ones I got for mine were a polypropalene looking stuff with a metal tip

doc, btw the ones in the fuel miser DHLA sidedraught rebuild kit are still plain brass though aren't they?

(checks in spare Dello kit..) Yes they are just plated brass, but they don't seem to give trouble. The float mechanism is a bit less agricultural than the SUs though.
It's been 10 years since I overhauled Ha-Ha's 45 Dellorto and it's still sweet. Doesn't ever flood, even with standard gaskets (not the soft mount kit).

I've had way more trouble with SUs flooding over the years.

:idea: If you can see a wear ring on the needle, always bin it & fit a new needle and seat.. :wink:
