Some of us were having a discussion the other day....

Some people said that the holes were probably for speakers...I have trouble believing they were stamping holes for speakers in 1963 (possibley earlier...who has a 1959 850 :?: :D ). I think it could have been used as part the jig that skewered early Minis for rust prevention and paint dipping.....

Does anyone know what these holes were for :?:

i have looked at them so many times trying to see wtf they were for.. and I got no idea. maybe so you could get a mounting point for the spot for baby seats? :? :wink: maybe. who knows... lol

My 850 has em. I'd say they were used on the production line, as you said.

Definatly NOT speakers!

All 850s had them. Could be for a single speaker..??
Stereo was invented well after the 850, I think.

I have done a lot...but you can't see it :oops: All windows out...some panelbeating done...man :!: you have to be so gentle with the hammers and bolsters :? Hah :shock:

Patience is a virtue...hopefully Chris the Painter/Panelbeater will come around and look at the rear end tomorrow....I want to get the body straight before attacking the paint strip drudgery task fun exercise.... :D
