Well, the engine in the van seems to lack power, so i thought maybe i have the tappets too tight or too loose. off comes the rocker cover and what do i find. Milk everywhere... Thinking head gasket, i pulled the head off and looked at the gasket??? it looks brand new? Now what? Maybe it isn't flat? don't know. I am getting a little tired of all this now. I fix one problem only to be given another.... Last time i put a motor together it was fine, but this time has been a nightmare. So who has any ideas as to where the water is getting in. Looks like the head will go for a visit to Mr Russell. Wife wont be happy.

Cheers

Aaron

Could it be a crack in the head itself?

For the third time in the past month......
The white milk/mayo stuff in the rocker cover is not a problem.
It is condensation. It is caused be a few different things like...

1) Lots of short trips so that the engine does not warm up fully.
2) Winter.
3) Brand of oil can effect it.
4) PCV not working properly.
5) Lack of thermostat.

If the oil on the dipstick looks ok the oil is ok.

Morris 1100, if you had read my post it would have told you, "Milk everywhere..." which means it is water in the oil, head gskaet is clean as i pulled the head. The problem seems to only be water in the oil, not oil in the water(ie no oil in the water jacket) I thought i would just test and refitted the head with a new head gasket. new oil, filter etc and the problem happened again. I can't see it being the block... I hope not anyway. But I need some words of advice. Doc? Any clues. It is taking around 15 mins for it to Milk up the oil. If it could only be the head, then i will get another i have reco'd and pop that on. If it could be the motor (hard to believe it would be as it was a good solid runner prior to being pulled out a few years back, virgin bore too) Advice please?!

Cheers

Aaron

That is what I based my answer on.

My apologies, i thought it was pretty clear that it isn't a condensation problem, it is far worse.

Cheers

What head gasket?
If its a copper one on a 1275, I'd get a BK450 instead. These days they are best.
Otherwise.. could be a crack in head, or crack in block. If tiny you will never find it.
Worth trying some `Loctite' radiator stop leak, or the powdered glass one that comes in a clear bottle- that stuff is good. Can't remember the brand though.
