Nope 1275 any bore will do, high compression pistons, 1.5 forged rockers, large exhaust valves, double valve strings, a nice cam, webber 45 and ROCK n ROLL time!!!

Put 12x5" Performance mags on it, 9" Honda discs, NO SPACERS, NO FLARES, and it'll look `stock' but outstop everybody running those piss-weak 7.5 and 8.4" discs... :P .

No flares on mine. My wheels sit flush with the body line of the car(just scrubs the chrome strip on hard right hand corners(hence why it sits up that lil bit at the front).

I think they are Mini S Offset. can Someone please tell me , so I'm certain.

Now I'd reeeeeeaaalllly love those honda's and 12's, but looking at my nice shiny 10's I feel bad to get rid of em.

And I really wish people would give the 1100 a chance. Fair enough it's never gonna go as hard as a 1275 with the same amount of work done, but ya can bomb the hell out of it and know there are still enough 1100's around to satisfy your needs. If the guy I bought my car off hadnt put the 1275 in, I woulda bombed the 1100 BIG time.

Yeah but maaaaan, those 9" Honda brakes of Josh's stop so well! :P

<edit> OK I'd put crap Inno flares and Mini offset 10x5" Contessas (or whatever) on like mine, then everyone knows it's not a real S... so they won't try to pinch it! (maybe)

That is precisely why I don't want flares on this car... It's like I am killing an ideal!

Other opinions please, let me hear from all of you's on what you's think!

I know what Kev will say... flares and hondas...

To Flare or not to Flare........that is the question!!

If you are going to start playing with offset and wider rims then you will probably HAVE to put Flares on to retain the LEGALITY of the car.

If you want ot retain that original look, good on you, as others have said.

Bear in mind, that people have been putting Flares on Mini since the 1960's!!!

Dude you're also talking about two different types of cars here when yourr weighing your options. The deluxes and K's and all the other "regular" minis were essentialy family/economy oriented cars that some people modified and used for competitions. The Cooper S were an amalgamation special made purely for competition (thats why S ie Special) and then became so popular that they became a regular line. So if youre talking about a mini deluxe "original" look there's no point in going back to the works special Cooper S's for inspiration.

But on the other hand I dunno about other people but what I liked about the minis and always found exciting and inspiring to soldier on bleeding cash and time were not the fuel economy figures or that it could carry a housemaker's entire shopping list in those cool underseat weaver baskets and still be small enough to park anywhere and was reliable and affordable. These all are cool facts and make me like the mini even more but what makes me love it are the photos of Hopkirk taking the the '64 Montey from the big filthy french Citroens and the Fords and the whole "little car taking on giants and winning" thing and the whole works minis in the air on rally cross photo shoots and the Cooper S legend enduring for people till this day (I mean everyone knows what a Cooper S is). So there's nothing wrong in my opinion about getting some of the Cooper S legacy in other minis coz after all were getting the cars to be the way the mini is supposed to be for us not for someone else. I mean make the car the way the mini is in your head and if flares are a part of it you'll be forgiven for "ruining" the Deluxe's clean lines and innovative styling with them.

BTW no one says you have to get the fairly rice (in my opinion) group 4 arches. Works S's like a 1.5inch and they were not rice at all and I reckon any mini looks better or even more natural with small flares.

yea, I agree with Mike. The smaller, subtle flares look sweet.

I buffed my flares (Standard Clubman S) last night and sat them on the body of JAM to gauge what they will look like. 8) Very nice!!!
