been around for a long time. DAD had trouble even back in the late '70s with hot rods with cromed suspention parts.. all good if you get them x-rayed to prove the plating has not caused fractures in the parts. :wink:

Cracking isnt the main problem, its Hydrogen embrittlement...

Suspension parts are supposed to be pretty Ductile (Bendy..) so that they absorb stress rather than snapping.....

The Chroming Treatment puts a lot of Hydrogen into the skin of the part, leading to a type of hardening..... Hard + Stress = SNAP

Powdercoating is OK (and there are some nice Chrome powdercoats..) and so is polishing, but chroming / nickeling is a big no no......
