Back on topic though, I got a set of UK made leads with a 90* elbow at both ends from Karkraft a bit over a year ago and they're already on 8.5kOhm - should I bin them?

Anyone knows where I can get some older looking leads - ie 90 shoulder on the spark plug end and a bit thicker at that end too. I'd love to get some of those vintage champion leads with the writing on the cap but obviously they wont do much good to my spark.

Really guys, I think Poeee has gone a bit far.....
Me a Saint? Pig's arse....

re the leads...
Mike I think 8.5K is a bit high.

Copper leads... if you use them you should run them with a 600 ohm or higher resistor cap. Plain copper leads from coil to plug do not give the highest intensity spark...
<edit> but are OK if you use resistor plugs (they have `R' in the part #).

OK.. I have a 1360 with Dellorto carb etc- I use NGK BP7Es on track days where I'm up it all the time...

For running about, I use either Bosch W6DC, Champion N9YC or NGK BP6ES. I've got Champions in there now- last of the Oz made ones, they were very cheap! 8)

Don't bother with fancy Iridium or Platinum plugs, IMO they are a complete waste of $$ in an A series.

these are the ones i use they were on my my stock standard 998 and were great especialy in the rain it didnt effect them at all 8) Unlike my old leads.

Resistor spark plug cap. 5K Ohm

so the question is are the bosch leads gonna outperform these :?:

Probably not. All leads are OK until resistance gets high as the core breaks down. Then they can start to go open circuit. Moisture just make it worse.
