I couldnt possibly put a finger on an "ultimate mini" for myself..... would need to have a DAMN big garage to hold each of the "ultimate minis" - each mini having a different look and sound.... i blame that on my Gran Turismo addiction....

I think one of the definite ULTIMATE's would be a small car with a LOUD bark and a BIG bite...

Does anyone remember the Super Sedan racing series that went around?? Alfa Romeo's with chev V8's, a commodore with a big block HEMI, a 7 litre 300ZX...... that was my FAVOURITE class of racing...

Well, here would be MY entry to that class if i had the chance...

Morris mini body, Space frame chassis, WIDE body kit, WIDE slicks..... oh, and a 7 litre V8, rear wheel drive... of course  ... very similar in styling to the one below..

Incase you're wondering, i am not obsessed with having bodykits on minis.... only on the CrAzY ones...

Yeah I think a works rally special would be sweet. A mate of mine has a red 850 sitting in the garage and all it needs is a white roof, some minilites etc, oh and spots on the front! (Come to think of it, I'd like a row of four spots on the front of my Mini - it increases the fun of those 'midnight rally stages' on public roads  )

GT Starlet transplant to make it go like crap. Or maybe even the MR2 rear engined job. That new funky holden green, no doubt it will seem dated in a week (much like that Tiger Gold on the VT). Naturally with two fat arse white striped going over the top of it. Take my fixed buckets, harnesses, 4 pot disks from Whitestriped '63 and then make that one into a roadster.

Come to think of it, anybody know of any utes for sale? :?

Not deliberately trying to hijack the post but are there many of them about? Don't recall seeing any (real ones) in Brisbane for quite a while. Saw one on EBAY in Melbourne a while ago. Would have snapped it up for the $3k they were asking if it were in Bris.

Not many real ones about, a made up one just changed hands from Canberra. You start with a van, pick up your angle grinder, carefully remove rear of roof above the waisteline....and so on...why not have a go! There is one being built here....but don't hold your breath... 8)

The sports sedans you speak of are still going around some of our tracks...search for Hossack and chev etc .....the truth is out there!

Seven litres of V8 would transform the Mini to an overpowered slug!

Depends how far ya wanna go:

If I was buying a classic mini without too much modification, my ultimate mini, would be the little red Rover that Charlize Theron had her cute lil butt in for the new Italian Job. And the driver's seat would take pride of place above the TV

Modified to the hilt......... This with Rego Plates hehehehe

And for reality's sake in the years to come when I get too lazy to even check my spark plugs, the BBR Bini.

Of course if ya wanna get away from the car's I like this mini

I would like to take a clubby, chop the top and make a convertable without the padded roll bars that the Qld regs require  put a round nose on it. Put a 'pretty' engine in it( lots of chrome and coloured bits as my wife calls it) paint it a bright canary yellow and drive it up and down Hastings St Noosa for all the Yuppies to look at.

I might add most of this is my wifes idea so if it means I get to play with a second Mini who am I to argue

No Clubman GTs were made in '78, I think they were only manufactired b/w 71 and 73 (right after the Cooper S was deleted oin Oz) using the excess S parts Leyland oz still had. Its basicaly a Cooper S MK2 in a Clubby body.

In the UK the Clubman 1275GT (different name and different specs) were made till the late 70's I think. They were not as potent as the Cooper S or the Oz Clubman GT.
