Im wanting to book it into the mecanics this week to sort this issue...running the MR2 in & out of town is getting expensive!!

Should I ask them to bleed the brakes & clutch system etc.? and just tell them Im having trouble going in & out of gears? Should I tell the to check the master & slave cylinders? maybe they need replacing?

Cheers

Apparently there is a "piston" type thing in the little cylinder that pushs that arm, seems this has worn and move so Im going into the workshop on Sat were they will heat up and bend the arm a tad up the top to compensate, hopefully will raise the point were it bite's up away from the floor.

Cheers

Sounds like that little piston thing you are talking about is your slave cylinder??
Dont go heating and bending the arm, replace the slave cylinder. They cost about $50 brand new and will leave your car servicable. If you go bending stuff a new slave cylinder or reco will cause your clutch to slip even when fully out.
Fix it don't do a dodgy work around you'll regret later.

Instead of bending the clutch arm, you can get a new, adjustable length pin that goes from the arm to the 'piston' (slave cyl).

This is VERY handy. I have one on my LS, and it has saved many headaches. Not sure where you'd get one in NZ, though...

To adjust the clutch, pull the 'arm' away from the motor as far as you can, just using your hand. Now, the gap between the arm and the bolt sticking out of the cover should be around .020 of an inch. Use feeler gauges. I never have measured it this accurately, i've just done the 'she'll be right' kinda adjustments on my cars.

Note: just a guide, please, get yourself a workshop manual.
