Whats everyone set their idle to?

I've got twin HS2s with around a 1100cc engine... If I set the idle any lower then about 1100~1200rpm, after accelerating then letting it idle the engine will slow down then stall. So currently it's set to idle at around 1200rpm.. The book says it should be around 800-1000 anyone know whats wrong?

NAV has a very similar issue atm. Everything was all fine till i put on the lcb extractors and 1"3/4 exhaust. Now my mixtures are all over the shop.
And yes it is a ritcher needle i just need to get him onto a dyno to get it sorted 100%

Would auto tranny fluid be thicker than sewing machine oil?

1115cc, RE13 cam, twin HS2's = 1100 - 1200rpm idle. Anything below that and it's a dog!

900rpm, with 731 cam, smooth as

it has to be less than 1000rpm or it drives me nuts.

your problem might include a sticky carby piston/s
or maybe fuel surge?

could be too rich aswell, which would make the idle lumpy

Idle speed is now sitting comfortably at 1000 to 1100.

sometimes drops to 600 - 800...that sounds tough :D

Both Barney and Ha-Ha idle at 1100-1200. Barney (twin HS4s) sounds cammier than Ha-Ha (45 Dellorto) although Ha-Ha has a bigger cam....

Don't you want a high idle to help (splash) lubricate the cam, or am I dreaming...?

1200-1300rpm here. Just off topic for one second but still kinda on the idle thing.

Arrived at Russell(rustle!!)Offices Thursday morning and Henry decided to chuck a hissy fit and wouldnt idle. Backed into my usual park and popped the bonnet. So much for the "learned" advice saying dellorto's wouldnt ice up - no matter how cold it gets - the dellorto was nearly all white!! Covered in a fine powdering of ice so the innards must have been absolutely caked in it. Wouldnt idle at all and when the ice melted it would only idle at (just)5-600rpm.

After a day in the sunny Canberra sun it was good as gold...sorry for the hijack...

Hooroo
