Yeah, might be quick between corners- but you still got to make it out-handle my superior hydro suspension......

Hey Kev where's the best place to get a decent flow swan neck manifold for a 45 and a fuel filter AND air filters. Whats the best? Ie redline etc?

Redline 3005, $120 at Mini Classic last time I was there.

No it's not a swan neck, that title properly belongs to the Lynx and others similar that had 2x 90* bends in each port.

Check the `Weber manifold' thread in Mini Mods forum.

Well flowing swan neck manifold? Surely a contradiction in terms! The 3.5" mid-length manifolds flow pretty well and aren't swan-necked. Running one of these manifolds, you can fit a small Lynx air filter, and if you're keen knock up some custom stub-stacks, like Kevin's.

Visit the Lynx website (link?), they have the filters and make the manifolds.

I had a Lynx swan neck on my motor when bought, with the 45DHLA it was a POS compared to the Redline. Yeah there are better manifolds than this too, if you are prepared to hack a hole in the firewall. I'm not.
If it was a Clubbie though, I'd happily hack it... :P

my point exactly, I wanna avoid hacking any holes especialy since it means I cant use the centraly positioned speedo.

I'm just franticaly trying to get some sort of a decent performance and reliability out of the girl and at the same time fix all the staff that is failing and falling apart in the process. So in the last six months I spent several hours every day doing stuff and paying through the nose for stuff that doesnt work and actualy very little time driving her. So I've pretty much given up on the twin sus (after tuning them and having them tuned by others and still behaving like POS). And I wanna get a Dellorto on as soon as possible w/o radical mods and deffinitely w/o hacking at the bulkhead.

If you want performance from your Dell'orto without the mods then a 3.5" manifold and Lynx filter would be a good option, followed by a Dyno setup to get the jets right.

My Dell'orto is on a lynx manifold that defines the term swan neck! It has no flow characteristics at all - the fuel just 'drops' down into the inlet ports!! It isn't jetted perfectly yet, the manifold sucks, but it still goes hard and sounds simply awesome! Shame about the increased fuel consumption though, I've only had it on for two weeks and I've run out of petrol twice!

Much as I like SUs, I purchased my Dell'orto after repeating issues getting my HS4 to work properly. Too much fiddling with needles, oil and springs got the better of me. As a matter of fact, the HS4 went faster at high RPM, but drivability was crap, so you could only drive it 4000-6000 rpm. The Dell'orto spins the wheels much better

Anto.

Anto, if it was faster with one HS4, it's time to try some bigger chokes in that Dellorto, IMO.

I'd try 32s or 33s instead of the 30s.
