you know whats even more anoying?! those sellers that remove the items from auction just before the end time/date because it hasnt gone as high as they wanted!

some ning nong listed an ibanez electric guitar and didnt put a reserve on it, i bid $25 with about 5 minutes to go and thought i was gonna get a bargain, i kept an eye on it.....anyway as im waiting for the auction to end and claim my bargain the loser selling it withdrew the auction. I sent him an email asking him why it;d been withdrawn and didnt get a reply. I mean if he wanted a certain price for it he shoulda put a reserve on it.....

but yeah i know how annoying it is when people outbid you at the kast second by like 5 cents

Better, get used to it...
I hate the people who start bidding at the begining of the auction... only pushes the price up for the people who snipe at the end ( me ;) )

Speaking off late bids, I've just sniped a 45DHLA, pre emissions (hopefuly but almoust surely) for $140. Was far lower than my max bid too. If my car wasnt stranded by my uni and I havent just tried to fix it on a cold deserted street till 3am to no avail and then had to take a cab home, I'd be pretty happy.

We all better get used to this sort of thing happening now. Aus ebay have removed the facility to set a reserve price. So you can only put an item up for no reserve auction.

It's a money making technique for Aus ebay, as sellers will list at a higher price to avoid selling too cheap. Ebay then get a percentage commission of the list price (standard practice), but of course the list price is higher, so they get more money.....good business sence, but they are still pricks for doing it!

errr can't you just set your minimum bid to say... 10% lower than your reserve and be done with it?

for instance, $100 item you start the bidding at $90?

yeah thats wat JAM means.....by removing the reserve function it means that people have to do what you've described rather than set the reserve at $100 but put the minimum bid at $1....hence making ebay more money
