I have a cams approved rear cage, made from alloy. bolt in.

the car is log booked, so it does not matter much, getting the front half made up when I get the right measurements.

anyone got the right measurements for a basic front cage?

thanks.

I've been told CAMS no longer will approve alloy cages unless they are existing in car and car is already log booked with them. Is this right?

anyone know how to steal aircraft grade titanium from the boeing factory, i reackon that would work well.... 4 grand u say, not too bad i spose considering it will save your life in a roll over or smash, not that i plan on doing that but im sure if i pass on one i will, thats the way my luck goes...

edit: missed the 800 buck thing, no im not keeping the roof lining, dont want any interior trim other then what is essential, another question, what are peoples ideas about flip fronts, work involved, and what they are so good for, or isnt it worth the effort..??

A mate & i have built or own cages in the past, had bond roll bars bend up the main hoop, front legs & windscreen brace, all the other bars are straight, you need to buy CDS cold drawn seamless steel, 44 mm in diameter & a minimum of 2.2mm wall thickness. I built a 24 point structual cage from the front strut towers to the rear shock mounts in my commodore rally car for around $500, it survived to roll overs with no damage at all to the cage. i have also built a full steel cage in my mk 2 cooper s, i will get some pics of it up here soon.

Hay, it's not about the car, it's not about the venue, it's about the people that come here. Peter Dwyer, Mayor of Hay NSW.
