I thought I'd make a new thread
If you read the other thread you'll know my steering seems to be out of line slightly.. Today I losened the little bracket that allows you to adjust the height of the steering wheel, and I could easily turn the whole steering column that goes from the height adjusting bracket to the floor.. This part doesn't turn when you turn the wheel, so I'm guessing something is loose. Any ideas on what it could be?

Oh and I've got some new A008s being ordered for the back wheels

the outer column dosen't normally turn because you clamp it ....but no reason why it shouldn't turn as a unit....the wheels should still be turning a well.....

Please be careful in this area....doing the wrong thing can lead to steering failure.....make sure you don't pull up on the column.

Just tighten the clamp back up.

Ahh ok I've read a few manuals relating to things in this area.. I've got a few things to try.. I'll see how it goes.

Thanks for the tip! steering failure wouldn't be pretty.

If you've already loosened that clamp and shifted the steering column however insignificantly reallign it all by loosening that bracket and at the same time loosen the nuts that hold the steering rack U-bolts to the cabin floor. Then retighten the clamp and then retighten the U-bolts. Otherwise a rapid deterioration of the steering rack is likely (just read your manual its mentioned several times).
