I know Gannon's Park wasn't organise by Ausmini.com but I thought I would post a couple of questions on here being after recently finishing a resto of a mini k , which I believed would be entered into the Modified section ( class F ) as it has some basic mods to the engine and some basic mods on the interior. So I thought I would go to Gannon's this year to take a look only.

Was disappointed to see two great cars coming up from Victoria , who have won trophies at major car shows and featured in magazines enter that class and appear there to be only trophy hunting.

What hope did those other vehicles in that class have against them?

Were they invited by the Mini Car Club as an attraction, why did they feel they needed to enter????

Maybe they should have a section for Super Modified cars?

Which would give more chance to the people who have slight modifications such as just the engine?

But it looked like a good day, there was some very nice cars on show.

Maybe see you next year? .

Maybe you could have asked when registering your entry, a few small mods should'nt have put you into the modified class, but i agree with you about there being a super modified class, as a judge of that class it was difficult to pick a winner.

In my opinion..... If you enter the modified class... And there is a car that is modded more than yours then obviously the better car should win, its not lets give the trophy to second best??

ice, if you have an issue with the way the event was run, don't come here and have it out. contact the club and ask them about it. no one here is going to know are they?

Both ron and Jan, the owners of the "super modified" mini's weren't invited along. they heard thru hear and various other sources that the event was on, s they came and goodluck to them, it was great to have them make the effort to come all the way from victoria. Why did the enter, well i know if i spent the amount of time and effort they put into those cars i would enter everything and go to everything too. I think it unfair for you to say they can't.

From my point of view your car shouold be entered in best restored not modified. Modified is, the super duper mini's. What you have done is Modified to taste. As it's not a concours event, but just a show and shine.

This just my point of view not the clubs or anyone else, don't take it as such.

Please contact the club with your issues, and please make yourself known.

Cheers

Aaron

But i must disagree about the "trophy hunting" comment, my opinion is the owners are very passionate about mini's & love to present them, it's unfortunate that no matter how much time, effort & money you spent modifiying a car, someone else always does it better.

My Cooper S was there yesterday, it's the MK1 that's Burgandy with a white roof, i never enter it in these events because i know most are better than mine, but i choose to do that.

I guess it all comes down to a judges opinion, but ultimatley you have to be proud & happy with what you have

these types of shows just show who has the most $ IMO..... Bit of a wank really...but hey i had a good time, met some nice people, and some not so nice people.

In the end i built my car to be drivin, and drivin hard, so when there is trophies for cars at wakefield track days and street meet drags then i will win somthing hehe, maybe have a total $ handycap system :D

but i got no problem with people who build cars for these types of shows, wish i had the cash to bring mine upto there standard. But then again if i did spend 1/2 as much as the others on a mini, i too wouldnt wont to drive it everyday.

Those two Minis' were awesome.

If I had put even 1% of the effort that has gone into those two cars Id wanna be showing it off everywhere aswell.

Good on them for winning some trophies, thats what hard work, some spare $$$ and a completely insane mind get you!!

If you have a problem with them winning...then build a mini that is better than those two and win it :)

I think all the mini's there deserved a trophie! great turnout! great cars! great people!! awesome day had by all I think :)

My 2c.........

If, in Jan's and Ron's case, you have a passion for mini's that overrides very other hobby you have in life, and it takes every available hour and $ that you earn, why would you not display and show your dedication to your craft??????????

Jan came to the QLD Mini Muster in June, took home half a dozen trophies and i did not hear any issues from that meet (i was also entered by the way).

It's an interesting comment that you have brought forward ICE, but i feel it is somewhat unwarranted to criticize their choice to show their Mini's, irrespective of the $ spent.

After all, it's amazing Mini's like Jan and Ron's which keep the interest alive in the Classic Mini, is it not??

their hardly classic mini's. its not Jan or Ron i'm critising its the fact that their in a class of their own, of course they were going to get first or second just in which order? No-one else had a chance in that category is all i'm saying.
