I was removing the front suspension cones the other day and this is what i found.

YUK!




Hmmmm hi-lo's are so much better

Just a thought, but all the suspension trumpets that have been corroded and smashed / break are that way because there has been water sitting in the top of them right

Now that they have been replaced with Hilos the water still goes down the top but now it is going to do it's best to rust up the threads on your hilos or are hilos nut and threads stainless

May be it is worthwhile double checking the seal of the caps that stop the water going down there. Though I spose you probably did this already when you were changing to hilos

they are stainless .. i am in the process of sealing them up

It pays to grease all the inside of any/all your struts/hi=los & also when fitting hi=los, make sure there is a drain hole drilled on an angle through the side of said item,,,that way any H20 can drain away happilly ,,,& also note that it does pay to have a little "Adjust" of them from time to time to make sure they remain free & "Turnable",,,if left for too long without attention, they do tend to "Grab-up" & lock solid & are a right pain to get undone in the car...copious amounts of "Copper-cote" may be the order of the day on all the threads Yeah!!!

It's a mini , all bolts and nuts are a ning nong to remove/replace

As far as i am aware the bottom arm setup is normal? why?



Haha yea..damn thing..I was able to get a ratchet with an extention bar on it in the end..but you have to get both nuts 'cracked' otherwise the shaft just spins..so i'm like yay retaining plate off..nuts coming of...try and do the otherone..DAMN..tighten it back up haha...I also bent up the inner guard to get access from the side

Did you replace your cones as well? or just added hi-lo's?

Me too..check out the difference in height from the old ones:



Probably a bit late to be bringing this up now..but i had to get my hi-lo's modified so that they screwed in further and went shorter..took about 5mm off each and at first it sat at about a 5 finger gap, it's finally settled down to about 3 fingers (on their lowest adjustment) after 3odd months..

The ride/handling is so much better now though
