yeah a log manifold has sharp bends but usually less than 90 degrees.
the advantage would be that the gases would stay really hot. hot gases = faster.
(that's why turbo bags exist)

if the gases have heaps of time to cool, they slow down.

but yeah, hell of a tight fit, not sure that a log would fit in :/

unless you'd think about putting the turbo where a catalytic converter usually is ... could get really smooth good flowing bends that way, but yeah, it'd cool down (heatwrap it!)

what are you talking about? no room for a log?..
this will be better than a log.. i agree with the heat wrap though.. not only to keep the exhaust hot, but to keep your intercooler radiator cool

also.. i've considered using this method to fit a 4E into a roundy.. only way i could see the tubo fitting in

except i would use a log (less power but more room).. get the power back by winding up the boost.. haha!!

Well they are going away to be ceramic coated...

Can I ask a stupid question... isnt it better that the pipes are equal lenght rather then a log..

By far, Dean.
You'll have nice laminar flow. Too much turbulence in a log.
$$$ceramic coating eh? Going all out 8)

and a 90 degree shift immediately after the block isn't going to create turbulence?
log's are crap, this is true... but that manifold isn't exactly 10/10 either.
i think speaking relatively, the gains from having a really short runner (ie log) and the heat energy conserved, would overcome the shitness of the log.

that and a log would be cheaper, simpler to fit, probably even coming down to being closer to the sump and easier to get an oil feed for...

bit late now, this whole argument is largely moot... but if i end up 4e'ing my mini, i'm more likely to do a log.

Hmmm when I ceramic coat them.. wont that help retain heat anyway?

not as much as you might think, and, more relevantly, not as much as a ceramic coated log would :P

I thought you were going all out, what with the ceramic coating and all that :P

Better get it running first, then you can mess around winning trophies
