I know I'm about a week late in posting a reply to this topic, but I also drove up to Sydney in our Bini, we caught up with Jan in Mutant on our way to Albury. I must say if I had spent that much money on a car I wouldn't be driving it along the Hume HWY beside BIG trucks in the rain. But they are built for driving and that is what Jan does, I also wouldn't let people sit in it, but again it's a car and it's Jan's passion.

As for trophy hunting, a small trophy isn't everything, although I'd just like to say our Bini won best Cooper S :D It's all about what you like in a car and if you want to spend mega bucks fixing up a car go right ahead, everyone looks at Jan and Ron's Mini's it and I'm sure they are a crowd puller.

I am up against Jan's car in Modified Import, I have spent about $2.50 fixing up my car and just to run a not very close second to Jan is a privalige. If only I was a millionare like Jan I'd love to fix up my car.

Ron and Jan you have done a great job on your Mini's and you deserve all the awards you win. You are in a class of your own. Shame people wanted the little trophy so badly they needed to slag you off on here.

You should be happy with your Mini and a trophy isn't everything, my other Mini won best Oil leak one year at a show, the only thing it will ever win, but I love my heap of junk as much as Jan and Ron do.

Macca I'm not a trophy hunter, but I did think I had a good chance of rust and dust. And proud to have the trophy on top of my beer fridge.
But, as I said on the day, my goal is to bring the same car back next year and NOT win.
Michelle and I are kind of new to minis and new to the club. So we were really only along for a bit of a look. The work and passion people put in is at the same time inspiring and humbling.
We had a great day, chatted with lots of friendly people, picked up plenty of mini info and got sunburnt.
Great day. Back next year.

I met you dddave, you were taking pics of my Prize winning Van! :D
If you have any questions or need any help with the van i am only to happy to help!
You said you would win rust and dust and you accomplished that with no effort at all!
Look forward to seeing the van grow and mature with the personal touches you add.

Cheers

Aaron

Maybe I have spent a little more than $2.50 fixing up Lurker, but it was basically like that when I got it, I have redone all the inside but done nothing to the outside.
It is a pretty cool looking machine I just wish the problem I'm having with this mysterious black box under the bonnet would stop.
Then I could drive it more.
I will bring it on the Link Tour fingers crossed hope to see everyone then. I must stop spending money on our Bini and focus on the other Mini's in our family.

i hadnt seen this topic till today so here we go, this is what i think, i would be in the same class as ron weavers red thing, i dont care, i know i cant win, i know meeni is nowhere near a show car, but i still show it cos i love being there and love seeing all the other cars and having people comment on mine. if your so worried about getting a trophy go and buy a replica for 2 dollars at any trophy shop, and put a mini that falls off on it. the same does go for jan aswell when she goes to shows like autosalon and the hot rod show, people spend hundreds of thousands on these cars so they are bound to be good, believe me, if you like your car, you wont mind not winning trophies, it should be the fun u have in it and the good feeling u get when u look at it. that is worth more then a trophy, the minis at mount cooper show is coming up and i can only enter in one category that relates to meeni and that is pre 72 modified, and i know i wont win, or even come in the top 3, but i am still excited and still going to have a good day!!! :D

ps. lurker is a beast looked good as on the run the other day

Meeni, You forgot to say how passionate you are about minis and showing them?
Aren't all Victorians passionate about minis?

Janelle

PS Why is this still going?

hey Dave, i think it was the old jocks lying in the back of the van that clinched the rust'n'dust award. It was nice meeting you both on the day!
