im going the supercharger route on my mini as you may already know, but whilst im saving for the kit, im getting everything else ready to bolt it striaght on, BUT i still havent got around lowering the compression, main reason being i have no idea what it is on my car at the moment (meaning the actual figure not what compression actually is). How do you measure it and is it possible to do whilst the engine is still in the car?
thanks
trent

Not entirely true.

It WILL work with hydro suspension, but the passenger side pipe will need relocating.

Any hydraulics place (Pirtek, EnZed etc) can make a new steel pipe to shape, if you take an old one and tell them what you want.

For low boost applications standard compression is fine with standard pistons forged pistons only need when getting really serious.
To lowr compression idealy use low comp. pistons or increase combustion chamber volume. you can also use a decompression plate which fits between block and head.
To measure compression ratio you need to know the combustion chamber volume piston dish volume, piston to block deck height so you need to remove the cylinder haed to measure it acurately. But if the compression is below say 150psi on cylinders it is probably standardish or the engine is buggered.

Provided the engine is in good condition 7-8psi boost should give you performance of a mildy tuned 1275

When you get the cam ground don't use a cam for an NA motor. A cam for a blower is totally different as overlap is not the issue, lift is. Go to someone who understands this and if they don't find someone else who does.

Talk to GR, he will grind you a special cam with wider LCA.
The one he did for kazjim's 998 turbo gave 72HP at the wheels with a fairly stocko port 202 head.

lobby should probably get more like 70 - 75HPatw
In vizzards book he talks about cam LCA's supercharger decrease LCA to increase overlap to increase cylinder purging, turbo increase LCA to reduce overlap as you have greater exhaust back pressure which fills cylinders with exhaust gases.
