G'day all,

Just moved from the colds of Canberra to the (comparative) warmth of Brisbane.

Any suggestions re mini mechanics or spare parts - I live in the north. FYI I am mechanically illiterate.

Cheers.

In brisbane I'd give the mini man a call, Matt Read, his website is -

http://www.miniman.com.au

he really knows his stuff.

Otherwise there are quite a few other mini related businesses, check out the links page on the mini owners club of queensland, which can be found here

Try Richard at A to Z auto over in Brendale.

I live in Redcliffe and take my mini to him (hint..hint  )

He only works on minis, and I have found him very resonable.

Crash at Mini Pro is the guy to speak to. I found him to be pretty helpful. My car did sit there for about a year but that was under my instructions to work on it when he had spare time. Haven't had any issues with his workmanship. Though the car hasn't actually been driven yet.

I have, I found the guy to be a total jerk. After my encounter with him, I refuse to go back ever again.

Funny thing is, I'm far from alone in this view, EVERY mini owner I've ever talked to has said "There's a guy in Wynnum, never go to him."

Could just be us though, he might be worth a try, seems to have a fair few parit lying around.

Also, is MiniMan back in business? He stoped taking new customers a while back,
:( apparently with good reason though, pity, he was a real top bloke.

for new parts always buy from Karcraft in Sydney. They are cheaper and will send overnight.
As for general Mini repairs I cannot recommend anyone. I certainly wouldn't recommend Glen Carpenter at Sumner Park, one rude SOB.
As for Mini Pro I've only heard bad things.
I suppose at the end of the day they are all businesses trying to get as much money as they can from you.

When I was last up in Brizzy I went to Mini Pro in Wynnum and I thought it was great, personally. Don't know who it was I was talking to but he seemed to have a good knowledge of all things Mini. I ended up making the trip back to Canberra with two Mini front seats filling the car up :)

I also went to John Carpenter's place, didn't look round much but it seemed like a worthwhile place to take your Mini for a service. He also had a few Rover Mini imports for sale and what looked to be a Mini boneyard out the back!
