Many peoiple including many mini owners consider any roundnose a Cooper look alike. To many a Cooper is not the worked and sporty version of the mini but all the early minis are "Mini coopers". Probably coz the Cooper and S varieties were the most famous of the minis and thus all the minis are remebered as Coopers and associated with them. I reckon its just as wrong as those who distinguish between clubby and roundnose models as Leyland and Morris.

But what really annoys me are those people who advertise their cars as "Cooper S replicas" and its a regular 998 deluxe with a false right tank inlet and nothing else.

Plus everybody wants to put Cooper and S in their ebay listings these days (like "cooper S 1100 radiator bracket", or "original cooper s right guard" (coz we all know the cooper s's were made from a totaly different body shell to the nrmal minis and you can tell the difference :)) or "cooper S original jack" or"cooper s sealed beam unit". This "cooper lookalike" guy atleast put a reasonable price on his car.

while i absolutely HATE anyone that tries to sell off anything as a cooper (or S) that isn't genuine......plenty of people honestly think they have a genuine cooper S when it is just a mini k or something....

geez one person even asked me if the beat up old clubby was a cooper s?!!?!

Well if the paint is good and it looks original and the interior is in v. good condition and you dont have any blue hoses or pink braiding in your engine bay or any orange door cards etc, then you should deffinately get above 10k. I mean we all know how much it costs to restore and maintain a car and you can expect to loose 30-40% but no one can expect you to give the car away?

The pity is any replica is probably worth more parted out as S parts, unless absolutely mint looking. Doubt you would get 14K though.

Hey it would be funny if someone pinched a 998 `Cooper S replica' thinking it's the real thing- OTOH they'd probably leave it parked at the first corner...

Geez if the flames car is a cooper lookalike then we pretty much all drive cooper lookalikes!

I was aproached by a lovely old man the other day and he says "oh is that your Mini Cooper?" and I was like "No way man, it's a Mini Deluxe, not the crappy old Cooper" He goes on to say "Does it have clubman lights?"

i memba when i bought some pics of my first lux into work and everyone was like "oh its a little Mini minor!" that shits me too, cos they werent ever sold as mini-minors over here. if i got a dollar for all the times people have called my mini(s) a "mini minor" or a "mini cooper" or asked about "the funny long gearstick" id be quite well off...

Also..the guy on that ch7 show that used to run in the arvos after school... big arvo.. the one in the bus... he called them mini minors when he was trying to sound topstuff about the italian job..
