Well I am finally moving the mini into its new home. I have to transport the bare shell on the back of a trailor. So I have a few questions.

What is the best method of securing a bare shell to a trailor?

Should I put something underneath?

How should I tie it down?

Any tips would be great.

use old tyres under the car - you may need them stacked 2 x high at the back so you don't damage the battery box.

Use 2 x ratchet webbing straps through the door openings, and a couple of ropes tied to the bumper holes just to be safe.

And 4 people will carry it much more gently than 2 will

I only used a blacket underneath and a few ropes and it didn't fall off flying down the F3

planks of wood under the shell  good for lifing it with a few blokes too!

Run a strap through the guts of the shell, from one side to the other. A ratchet on the strap will pull it down tight.

like this....

any tyre place will give you as many old tyres as you want
(they have to pay to get rid of them)

There are other ways to tranport a shell, but I wouldn't recommend it

I like the Idea of wood, but I will get a couple of tyres as well. Nice big ones. 34" just in case.

Hahahaha Mike, that's exactly how we brought both mine home except the 2nd mini was long ways hanging off the back off the trailer! What people must of thought on our way up the F3! My step-father's attitude was 'she'll be right, you worry to much. I used boy scout knots!' :?
