was just thinking - there's plenty of room between the radiator and the bars inside the wheel arch - fitting a thermo fan from a modern car cant hurt even if it doesnt help - which fans (from what cars) generaly fit you reckon. what fans have people here used? How did you attach them?

Any other tips? (besides get a better rad. or an auxilary core)

Here are a couple of pics of my new Moke radiator.

Note how the Jap thermo fan blades are designed for low noise (unlike a VK Commodore)
and the curved shroud to promote laminar flow.

This shroud is steel, but many are just plastic. Says "Lenzer" on so I guess its from a Lancer.
The radiator is an alloy Nissan unit I think. I just mixed and matched to get what I wanted.

Just a thought, does anyone have a pic or dimensions of Pulsar thermo fan & shroud?

If we are going to pull the dizzy & alternator off a donor car, maybe the thermo fan will be a fit too... :? Has anyone done this?

mylse laminar means smooth/streamed
opposite to turbulent.

Yes Matic has it.

Flow across a flat surface (or in a pipe for that matter) is in layers travelling at different speeds, with those next to the surface (or the inside surface of the pipe) travelling slowest.

of course in the case of that shroud, it would really be transitional.

laminar > transitional > turbulent

Good smooth flow makes a huge difference to the effectiveness of a cooling system or an engine intake

Transitional or laminar - this thing will never fit behind a mini radiator - or would it now? (Can it be mounted externaly?)

The alloy radiator & Lancer thermo fan (above pic) will be front mounted in the Moke
but from memory the Nissan Pulsar fan is much more compact. I suppose I will just have to go measure one :?

Mike, you can just mount it to the inner guard where the grille bars are, make a tin shroud if you want. Many people don't bother.
You would also need to seal around the rad with a strip of rubber, like early Minis had originally.
