Naah I think too white stripes on the side would be awesome for a red car. Yours looks great, but that's because you have a GT blue car!

Duc hahahaha 12hp, dude, i was quoted 8hp from my cuz so 12 horses sounds fully sick!

Mike: I just ordered my set of stripes from UK for 8 pounds along with some other goodies, Mk1 gear knob, steering wheel drop bracket and some small items. All up about $70 inc postage. I am happy as the cheapest I found the gearknobs was for $25 each! I am sick of my red back spider gearknob that came with the car :P Like I said to Kev, that's got to go!

mickmini: dude you live like 5 mins from me (litteraly the way I drive my mini hehe), maybe I can pop over some time and check out my counterpart 8)

Well since my mini aint stock as it is (extractors etc, and soon a webber maybe) then it woul dbe a crime NOT to put bonnet stripes!

Wow... see I think darker colours look good with middle stripes... I think red HAS to have two thin stripes on the sides of the bonnet. It's CLASSIC 8)

I'm Sold! I can't wait to put em on! I wish I had a digi cam though...

By the way, does anyone know how many mm or inches from the sides of the bonnet the stripes should start?? looks like a small gap of paint before the actual stripes starts...

Be careful if you order pre cut bonnet stripes for a Clubby. They don't fit because of the curves on them and the clubby bonnets are straighter.

i've seen a yellow clubby with black bonnet stripes on it........

even though it had clearly been done well (as in it all fit correctly etc)....it look really pov, it just didnt suit the shape of the car....GT stripes on a clubby are a completely different matter :D

Christoph's blue Clubman has white bonnet stripes, it really looks the business :) Sets it apart from any other Clubman painted Am Eye blue! I reckon a white roof would go down a treat though. It was described in a recent club newsletter as a blue Cobra Clubman!

I want to put white stripes on my Mini coz the bonnet is fading a bit and I hope the stripes will help conceal it. I'd have to paint the roof white aswell so that's extra effort. And then I just fitted a Works style bonnet strap so it looks better without stripes now. Might just respray the whole car instead!! Still got to finish respraying the rear end damage first, better not get ahead of myself.

I used to put vinyls on for a living. The secret is to have the complete area completely clean, peel the the stripe off the backing paper and lay it down - sticky side up. Having earlier prepared a detergent solution - about the same strength you (prolly the wife, so ask!) would wash the dishes with - sponge it onto the glue so it is really wet. The glue is neutralised. Then carefully lift and place the stripes on the bonnet. Withthe glue wet, you can "float" the stripe around so that you get it in the exact, correct position. Then with a 'squegee' push the water out from behind the stripe, working from the middle out. This removes all air bubbles, 'dries the glue so it becomes sticky again and ensures a finish as smooth as a babies bum!

Good luck!

Are the vinyl stripes then kinda like water-slide transfers that you get with scale model kits and the like? So then it's easier to position it where you want it.
