There is a big nut at the wheel end of the drive shaft. You got to remove that before you can remove the CV and shaft from the vehicle.

You mean the nut that holds on the hub for the drums?

Can i just undo the u bolts to remove the boot and the uni joint? I dont want to actually remove the shaft!

Are you trying to replace the CV boot ? outer or inner? or do you have the uni joints ?

If you are replacing the boots inner or outer you will have to disconnect the drive shaft at the inner joint if it's the outer CV boot you want to do you will have to take the drive shaft and CV joint out. I had to split one of the ball joints to do this.

AFAIK he doesn't want to get (2) the CV joint out but further towards the centre of the car there is a small rubber boot that covers a splined sliding joint type thing which is used with the steel uni joints and the rubber uni joints but not with the pot joints.

he wants to get this off and replace it and also get rid of the rubber uni joints right :?:
