 Horrific!
I'd contemplate it if the roof was bent.
But its not.
YET.

:D

I've got a budget of around 3 grand on paint, which the painter said is PLENTY for an outside and engine bay job, with them doing all the prep and a couple of things that need attention (cooper S fuel tank hole being filled).

Interior will consist of Rover lowback seats.
Retrimmed, etc the seats and door cards will cost around 700.
They will be black vinyl i think.
With matching door cards of course :)

Hoodlining, black, will be done at a motor trimmer at cost of 150ish.
Cheap stuff for such good results.

Rubber kit for it i've lined up for around 0.5 thousand dollars.

Engine is costing... not saying.
Never will.
It will be a Rover 998 manual.
With 731 cam.
ANd rover subframes.
Fueled by my 45DCOE.
And exhausted with a JUN BL exhaust system . 8)

Outside brightwork has come in at about 1500 dollars.
Quite good.
Thats just grille, bumpers, moustache.
Not much really.
ouch though

Dash will be "Cooper S" Centre 3 gauge type (speedo, oil pressure, water).
Thats a couple of hunge at least.

Stereo i;m thinking maybe some sort of Alpine setup.
There will be no "dash" as such , so scotty recommended i put the headunit under the switch panel 'there'.
I'll try make that look nice.
With some clear sounding splits.
Mounted under the rear seats, with tweet tweets on dash shelf.
And a sub of some description.

So its all good to go.

New parts should all be here by Monday next week.
Body will be going off to painters after the Mill some time (Minis at the Mill is November 6 people!)
And yep.
Thats it.

Yeah i've got the money.
The car will be a "don't look at the receipts when you're done" type job
Or a sit down before hand if you do :)

I shall get pics as i buy things/do things/have things done on it.
Finally I get to resto-mod a car as i'd like it to be done! :)

in the interests of not seeing another mini totalled ...

*dons flame retardant suit*

wouldn't you be better off spending some money on defensive driving or the like, rather than bits to make your mini go faster? it seems you had a hard enough job controlling the last one.

apologies if that comes across as incredibly bitchy - but someone had to say it.

In case you didnt READ
"Rover 998 manual"

enough said.

And besides, I feel that experience is the best teacher.
We've discussed this topic before, so leave it at that.

i can read fine. i seriously think you should consider the training, as so far:

bent mini 2 - willy's experienced driving 0

and it's not meant to be a completely personal diss at you - i think all people should be made to do mandatory driver training when they get their P plates.

Whatev mate, whatev.

Back to the topic.

I reckon i'll also be buying one of those Smiths tachos to tie in with the rest of the interior... would my best bet to be snooping ebay every now and then and looking out for one, or does anyone on here have one for sale?
You know the ones - i think the MGB's had them, scale up to 8K rpm...

Weber 45... sell it... and spend that money on something else. On a 998, that it was too overkill and so not needed. 1.75" carb is what ya want. See GR's engine at the Sydney dyno, see the HP it make, see what carb it was running?

The difference between a $100 and $200 set of splits is quite a bit. Spending extra on them, rather than keeping the Weber which won't do anything over a 1.75" SU (IMO).

Nah the weber will be choked down, she'll be right

I'm not letting the Weber go in a hurry i hope.
Got it for a good price and want to see what its like.

And plus, i'm not after horsepower.
Just wank and bling 8)

As for the speakers, 100 dollars here and there isn't going to make much of a difference to my overall "budget".
