I was told once that if the oils too thick (or cold), the gears will crunch, conversely if the oils too thin (or hot)....the gears will crunch.

My HPR 40 at the moment must be a little on the thick side for the cold mornings.

Barney's 2nd gear synchro I can beat on downshifts when hot, but he's improving. the new MSC out of round/wrong taper cheapo baulk ring must finally be bedding in... :lol:

Can always add what I did when I installed my oil cooler, I ran it via a thermostat, this was because initially I was only driving 15km's to work and back, on cold mornings not enough for the oil to come right up to temp, I kept in mind that too cold an oil is just as bad if not worse than too hot an oil.
The thermostat works, on long distances the oil gets hot, the pressure drops, marginally, the cooler opens and the pressure comes back up, marginally. There is always a small flow to help circulate the oil and to minimise moisture and gunk build up.

find a scania truck gearbox cooler, pretty much the same thing and works on our mates car, wont be as expensive i would think either
