I cant post a file on the forum (at least not that i know of). I have done an autocad file for the backing plate, but ill be making sure it fits before going any further, and i havn't had time to make up an accurate dummy yet.. Incidentally cutting two plates via laser or water cutting is insanely expensive, you need to get like ten plus before pricing becomes half reasonable. Im going to be getting a run cut for 10 inch wheels, and possibly 12 inch aswell as a few people have been asking me about them. Send me a pm if your interested in getting some cut when i do, im sure i could slap them in an express post bag or somesuch.... Originally i was just going to get enough cut for myself and friends but i seem to be getting a few requests, especially from interstate enthusiasts, so i might just get plates cut for whoever wants, might have to do somekind of deposit though, i dont want to be left paying for/being stuck with 10 more plates than i need! I imagine the cutting at least for the ten inch wheels will be done within the next few weeks so let me know via forum pm anyone who has enquiries or orders...

Gareth

hey Gareth, I would be interested in getting some cut. maybe even a set for 10" and a set for 12" as a haven't decided what wheels i am going to use yet.
can you give me an estimate of how much it would cost to get them cut and sent to brissie? how thing are you going to make them?

cheers, cazmo

14mm ring spanner (brake hose), 17mm ring spanner (bolts), BFH (universal tool), impact screwdriver or #3 or #4 Phillips (disc removal).

You won't need the hubs, just the calipers/mounts and discs.

$80/set is fair, less is cheap, more is a ripoff....

last things first: sociallydisabled... you need a quite a few tools to do this conversion, even if you had someone do the backingplates for you, most of its fairly mundane stuff, but you do need a lathe to do the discs and flanges, and a jig of somekind is nice to make sure holes get drilled and tapped where there meant to be....

Cazmo, I have decided to get the plates lazer cut, i have done an autocad file which is fed into the lazer cutters computer and it does the rest, the work is in getting the file right... and mastering autocad.... I have made a protoype and bolted it up, and am quite happy, although i am going to make up a better prototype from a piece of aluminium the same thickness as the plates will be, just to be sure.... dont want to cut 20 backingplates to find out they dont fit!

Costs im really not that sure yet, i made some calls but the dimensions i gave were somewhat small in retrospect, and the guys i spoke to were pulling figures from the top of thier heads, i too just wanted a rough idea... i would say very roughly 50-100 a pair, plus postage, cheapest lazercutter quoted me 140 a pair with the smaller dimensions i gave him, costs reduce the more cut ofcourse....

This week, or early next i will ring him again with some more accurate dimensions and work out accurate costs, ill work out roughly what they weigh and i will look into postage, ill update here and maybe start a new thread "lazercut backingplates 4 hondadiscs" or somesuch ...Then i suppose i might wait two weeks after i have posted that to give people a chance to place orders...Work has been mad lately, and i havn't had the time id have liked to play conversions otherwise this would have already been done, sorry people.... but if your interested keep you eye out as i doubt ill be doing a second run any time soon...

Actually not a bad idea to have a set of each, then you can alternate between wheel sizes and plates, heh, it is only 2 bolts to remove the caliper from the plate and 3 to remove the plate from the hub

Gareth_1330, you can count me in for a pair of 12" if you can get them under $100 a pair.

Now I shouldn't need spacers with my 12" performance minilites should I? .....as I want to get rid of my dinky plastic flares :)

Should fit OK. I tried them on Josh's car when we put the 9" Hondas on, just to see.

Great....want to try them on the track. Hoping it is easier to get good disk pads...and might even try the slotted rotor :P

Want that " this is a standard deluxe isn't it?" look without the flares.... and 1430 under the bonnet :P :P :P
Hope the non spaced rear drums hold up

Thats a big motor.... 100cc more than me

WHat i will do is when i know the exact costs of these backing plates i will post it in a new thread and anyone who wants to order a pair can get in touch with me from there, i will put some contact details and hopefully everything else that could be posed as a question so people can just ring me and order, still havn't looked how im going to do deposit/payment...

Been busy as a bee all week tidying up loose ends for Ivan to go on a short holiday for a family wedding... He will be going to England and Africa... And has to transport a Sunbeam Tiger from africa already, he is looking to get himself an english 850 aswell to slip into the container... AND most importantly he is going to keep his eye out for a pickup for me! Id like a pickup *nods sagely*....... It would be something different, especially with 12 inch Mamba's and a KAD megahead

You have to stroke it.....................

My mechanic calls it the "grenade", but it has held together so far.

I brought the car with the engine off a lady (yes, a female owner) and she did tell me that it was 1430, and I thought, oh...she means 1330....stupid b!@#@

Imagine the suprise when we took the head off it

It is a one way trip to the dump for the block if I blow it up now, Its been bored too big to take sleeves :!:
