There hasn't been a single time yet that at least one person hasn't told me their story about their mini whilst I'm out working on mine in the street..

Last saturday, one bloke was telling me about a mini he used to have, and then about some old volvo he has now (which he preceeded to drive around to show me). Then another bloke came and told me almost his life story, and how a mini was his first car. He did his driving test on it, and was supposed to fail cause he hit the curb going round a corner. But the instructor let him pass anyway... then told a few other events he had in his mini, including trouble with the police, etc.. Then this old man came passed and told me he just GAVE AWAY FOR FREE a Mini K which he had put front discs and a 1275 on.. anyway turns out he lives up the road from me.. And told me to come round to his house one day, cause he still has heaps of old parts that I can have :D
Lastly my neighbour (who is a regular drunk) came passed and told me he'd give me a hand to push the car in the middle of the road so I could do an insurance job on it. I think it's cause he see's me working on it all the time..

I'm done.

grr.. my dad used to have several (no more than 2 at a time tho..) ex-racing cooper s's.. apparently his mum could hear him coming home from a few k's away...

They used to live in upper beaconsfield and after the fire went through there was metal blocks sitting out in the paddocks.. they were the gearboxes that my dad used to destroy on a weekly basis..

Apparently these mini's he had would smoke the tires (both, LSD..) until third gear..

if only he still had them now !!

My aunt actually had a hotted up Cooper S that she rallied... after it was stolen and recovered for the 4th time she sold it. Each time she'd get it back it had been thrashed and mistreated by joyriders. :x

I am an old Mini driver, had 3 off them in my younger days. Started with a 998 Deluxe in 1968, then a 1100 roundnose in 1972 and last one was a 1100 clubbie in 1978.

Now as an old Mini owner, I have my Moke and a 998 '77 Clubman LS..

Long live the Mini and old Mini drivers... :D
