i actually would put my vote on the M30....nice one, that..
The Bac M-30
A rare beast - only 30 produced, and a rather expensive one.
To celebrate the Mini's 30th anniversary, there was not only the Mini 30 released but also the rarely mentioned BAC M-30. The price initially was to be ?30,000, six times that of the ?5,000 for the Mini 30. It was decided, however, that this was extortionate, so the price was set to ?23,390, some of the standard items becoming optional, which was still a huge price to pay for a Mini, no matter what year it is, especially not 1989! It was created by the British Automobile Company, but KAT Designs did most of the styling.
The Engine was a 1275cc Metro Engine with a sprintex supercharger, 1.7" card, oil cooler, stainless steel tubular manifold and a uprated clutch, but no electronic ingnition. Power came to 115hp which makes it one of the fastest production Minis ever. Of course, it had to deal with all of the weight of the extras and shiny bits, but no one could call it sluggish.
It's 6x13" wheels(with 175/50R13 Yokohama A008 tyres) not exactly the best choice handling wise, the M-30 features adjustable dampers and variable ride height to deal with this.
The interior was very lavish, including leather trim, Recaro front seats, elm burr inserts, a custom BAC instrument binnacle with numerous gauges, nice shiny warning lights, Wilton carpets and mats, in-car telephone, and an RDS Radio Cassette with 4 two-way speakers. Options included a pearlescent paint hob, electric windows, central locking, remote control alarm, heated and electrically adjustable front seats, CD autochanger (under the rear seats), 6 speaker stereo, air conditioning and electric sunroof.
The M-30 was fully customisable also, with BAC offering to tailor the car to suit individual tastes. The Mini has always had so many loyal and wealthy followers, so its not hard to see how they sold 30 of these supercharged specials, but you have to wonder why. You could build one for half the price!
