I have been told that the best way to identify what year a mini is made is to look at the wiper motor.
My wiper motor reads?????

62971016D DR3A 12V 10 67

Does this mean my mini was made in 10/67 (Oct 67)????????????

Does anybody know how accurate this method is??????????????

Please help guys????

Close... wiper motor was made then, car probably a month or 2 after.
But as said- after 40+ years things do break and get replaced.

is there any other more accurate way of identifying what year it is???

so it would probably be safe to say it is 67 or maybe older

or what if someone put a older wiper motor in

the car could be newer???

:? :? :? :?

It is a very accurate way of finding out when your wiper motor was made!

Check the dates on ..... The generator, Starter, Regulator, Ignition switch, Highbeam dip switch. (and a few others) Your car will be (or may not be!) made after the last date, unless the part has been changed.
If the dates are 10-67, 8-67, 7-67 and 1-69. you would assume it was made in late 67 and one part has been changed!

I have my dip switch and ign switch on the table next to me and they do not seem to have any dates on them???

The rest i cant check because the car came without a motor??

This thing hasn't been registered in years and given the state of it at the moment it'll be a couple more before she's on the road again

There is a date code on the boot lock. Same deal as wiper motor... but may have been changed if boot replaced.

<edit> is there a car ID plate on the firewall with the body colour shown? Some colours were specific to different years.
