No Cush, not dissapointed.. just really offended....I see you have absolutley NO respect for others feelings...

Background:
My dad works 4 months of the year in New Orleans... he was home 3 days when this disaster struck.... he lost two of his closest friends...

Friends of 6+ years....

and you joke about it ...

Am I supposed to Chuckle and Laugh with you ?

What if this was a Cyclone in Darwin ?
What if you lost your best friend in this ?

Yay, you are going for funniest bastard... yay for you.

J

Mate, we've all lost people we've loved, known or met.

there's nothing that can be done about it. except to enjoy the life you have...

I take the view that if you can't laugh at the world you would spend your life crying.
And I thought that was funny, not hilarious- but funny.
I also laugh at racist jokes, if they are clever.
Did you know that aboriginals have "whitey" jokes about us?
I laugh at them too, if they are clever!

I second that...the longer it stays, the worse we look as a community.

As soon as you see "Serious message" and the poster is Mr Cushway you know it's going to be somewhat facetious!

When i first opened this thread, i was about to close it. As far as i knew you were being serious. I havnt heard too much about this other hurricane, i thought it was a good idea what you were suggesting, but i wasnt probally going to take part.. how selfish of me..

Anyway, i read down teh page further and discovered the controversy! So i decided to reload the page this time with pictures turned off (i block images from ausmini.com, because i am at work and because your images are usually VERY annoying).

So i loaded the images, and it says hurricane on the bottles, i thought this was a little bit inventive, cause u took the time to buy em. Then i thought hmm, maybe he is suggesting to use the bottles of detergent with the hurricane thus cleaning the citys of all the dirt (perhaps suggesting that the people were the dirt). This is a very very cruel thing to suggest, but because i am so detached from this disaster, i thought it was quite clever.

I donated a little too bali, i donated nothing to katrina, and i will probally not donate to this..

i am tight on cash yes.. but obviously not in need like they are and so many others in the world to begin with.

Its horribly complacent for me to only be able to deal with a disaster every so often and then want to block any others that happen too soon afterwards out.

ITs horribly inhumane of everyone.

lazy greedy people

sorry i forgot what i was saying, i got called away to do some work.

Seriously, one day our ancestors (if they exist) will look back upon us and think "how could they not care..." But dont we just think we are all lovely people? ( i make the assumption that no one is doing 'enough')

I dunno, but I thought it was funny. There was no degredation there at all, just a play on words and images.

I guess everyone loves the chance to become all sanctimonious when they can.
Are there many emails in your inboxes showing JPEGS and slide shows of the war in Iraq?
I thought so..
2000 US and 80000 Iraq civvies so far I have heard. Anyone burn the sender down when they received the emails or are we selective for our own reasons?

There should have been some disinfectant in that box cush.

American bashing is all the rage in OZ ATM though - to some people they are that horrible beast that is bullying the world into submission and double Big Mac and Fries consumption - so anything that happens to Americans, according to some people is deserved and justified. The fact that we are as a nation are probably the most similar nation to the US in the world (and that includes Canada) - as we drive the same types of cars, eat the same junk food, watch the same movies, and invade the same countries - is completely ignored.
How does the US "take, take, take, but wouldnt give"? from whom? They are like the first point of call when anyone needs money. By your criteria would you describe other desuster struck nations like Etiophia or Somalia for eg. as someone who "takes, takes, takes, but wouldnt give"? Coz when's the last time the Ethiopians gave you anything?

That aside though the original "Huricane" post was funny if not taken further - the only time I got indignant about an email is when someone sent me a petition to "bring vengeance" on those two kids who killed a 6yr old kid when they were 10yrs old in the UK. Tried as adults and only now released as 18 year olds to a new life in Australia. And some wally suggested to pretty much lynch them for something they did as 10yr olds.
