Anyone know when they changed from centre ignition to column ignition?

I'm guessing early 1972.

Chris - what date is on the Wheels mag with the GT series of stories? The GT in there has a column ignition.

We need some of the old GT sales brochures to cross reference.

All ADRs became law March 72, these included steering locks, rear seatbelts, headrest, reversing lights and the dreaded ADR27 for emisions, sealed breathing system for engine, the real emisions with air pump came in 74 sometime

Yep, none of my 6 - although I can't really remember the centre ignition car, but sure it didn't. My 72 car has a build date of 12/71 and that has column ignition and no basket weave etc. Yours may be one of the last centre ignition cars. I believe that these were built for Bathurst homologation and thereafter needed to comply with new Aus 'rules' which included burst proof door locks and headrests. Think rear seat belts may have been part of those regs to, but not sure.

Someone must have the Zetland records somewhere. I find it hard to believe they were destroyed and no-one 'put them away for safe keeping'. You Aus boys need to call on every contact you have with ex Zetland employees to dig these up. Or have they really all gone?

my trimmer is ex- BMC / Leyland. He was there till the end.

I ask him all sorts of stuff....and he says " Geeez mate, that was like 30 years ago.....I can't remember things like that"

He always refers to the BMC / Leyland Heritage Group. They would be the ones to get in contact with. Apparently one or two members of that group have Force 7's !
